The actual money will get paid out on the bonus on July 1. A team would have to pay him under 1 million of actual cash for the season, so some team who doesn't care about the cap hit, he would be a great piece. That being said, all those teams are complete ass. Why would Tavares uproot his family for that?

I have no problem with Shanahan staying as long as the core 4 get broken up... by at least trading Marner. I can even accept Tavares sticking around as long as he re-signs for $5 Million AAV or less. But Marner and Samsonov MUST go. Keefe? Honestly, I'm torn. Dubas gave him a regular season team and they performed in regular season. It's a shame he never got a playoff style team. The Leafs looked great in games 5 and 6 and pretty damn good in Game 7. I wouldn't mind seeing the Leafs waiting a year and see what he can do with a team built for playoff success. But not holding his players accountable makes me lean to replacing him.

Lol I took so much heat from every person that heard my opinion. I have said since the day they signed JT that there is no way they can have playoff success. They gave 11mil and the C to a guy with no NHL individual success, barely 1ppg, never scored 50, never had 100points, barely won in the playoffs, and the personality of a wet bag. Then they give Marner 10.9 off his entry level, then they give Willie 7.75 after he sits out. I called it when they signed JT, I called it when they paid Marner, I called it when they rewarded Willie after sitting. They don't have what it takes on their own and you spent too much money to support them. I called it the day JT signed. And I doubled down every year. It doesn't work and it won't. Could have afforded better goalies, could have afforded to keep guys like O' Rielly and Acari, could have got better dmen. Could have kept or afforded people that perform when it counts.

There was only two, real major issues that the Leafs encountered.. 1. Our Lack of Team defense was an issue in the first two games vs Bruins.. (that is a coaching issue) he has not been able to get this team to play proper defense the entire time he has been here.. That difference, could have gotten us one or two more games before our back was to the wall.. This is a FACT...... 2, Our Powerplay.. Not adjusting our powerplay to an entirely new zone entry and attack is again ( COACHING )... This team should have raced to the blue line with speed and chased a dump in,,,, then force point shots while crashing the net... They failed to adjust and we missed out on maybe, 15 more goals which would have ended this series... In Everything other area, the Leafs matched or exceeded Bruins play... How do we know this --we went to game Seven OT...

How about everyone just STFU and wait and see what happens with Bruins & Boston before we all shit on the Leafs YET AGAIN...If Boston ends up going to the finals and The Leafs were the only team that took them to seven, everyone will eat their words and that will be Proof the Leafs were right there... The margins are so small,, so very very small that tinkering and trying to move one of or best players may or may not help!! there is NO guarentees and a locker room be-loved team player/leader gets removed and your entire team chemistry could change!!!!! Careful what you always wish for and Push... Game Sevens mean you are equally as good and just need a bit of luck.... Period.. THink otherwise you lack somewhere

Agree somewhat with your point, but then what about when they lost to the Habs or Colombus? It seems like every year, they come up with another excuse. The result ends up being the same, though. As you said, the margins are so small. So why allocate most of your cap to 5 guys? Why handcuff yourself? No reason to limit your resources when you need to fix a so-called minor issue to win a championship.
