We call them "biscuits" and they tend to be lighter and moister than scones. It's delicious honestly... Also, most Americans don't have a bag of chips with every meal. Also most private schools aren’t public schools, public schools are specifically schools like Eton, Harrow etc. They’re more selective, tend to have a longer history and are still strongly associated with the ‘upper classes’ compared to private/independent schools. So all public schools are private but not all private schools are public.
