I agree with you. I think all those MOvies you Menionted were great Movies and JV did a great Job in all those Movies. Interestingly, I think Coming HOme as well as those other Movies you Menionted have a Liberal or Progressive Message while JV is a Conservative Spokesman. Idon't know if JV was always a Conservative or he changed his Political Views.

Jane Fonda was instrumental in getting him cast as Luke. She said, "Jon, how are you fixed for work these days?" and he said, "No one will hire me." She said, "I'm going to do 'Coming Home.' Maybe Hal will cast you as Luke. It's still open." Hal said, "I don't want Voight because he hasn't had a hit in years," but crunch time came and he still didn't have a Luke so he offered it to Voight (after much prodding from Fonda).

I am guessing the backlash over the movie's unflattering portrayal of Turkey & its prisons might have caused the Academy to back off from honoring it too much. They already had their hands full with TWO anti-Vietnam war films.
@rustincohle21355 жыл бұрын
@@ericandy88 Brad Davis wasn't nominated because of his notoriously obscene public behavior leading up to the Oscars: "Despite winning Best Actor at the Kansas City Film Critics Circle Awards, winning "Most Promising Newcomer - Male" at the Golden Globes, receiving an additional Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor, and receiving two BAFTA nominations for Best Actor and Most Promising Newcomer, Brad Davis failed to receive an Academy Award nomination for his performance. The reason for the snub was allegedly due to his raucous behavior at a Hollywood Party, as noted in a New York Times article. According to his wife, Davis had managed to destroy his success almost as quickly as he had risen to prominence, due his excessive drinking, intravenous drug use, and obscene behavior. On one infamous occasion, she noted that Davis had ripped off his shirt and cried, ''O.K., who's got the drugs?'' while a director present at the party muttered prophetically, ''There goes that career.'' She described another famous incident where Davis had taken a gun to shoot the glass out of framed pictures of himself in his hotel room and proceeded to smear the hotel walls with his own excrement.
