If the US viewers' see Silvya's reaction when she received the approval letter, you may uunderstand how emotional getting a Green Card and ultimately becoming a naturalized US citizen means to an immigrant. (did that 40 years ago). Sometimes it takes years. Please don't take your being a US citizen for granted,

One of my friends is ex army, he was invalided out in boot camp because they made him run on a broken ankle. He went to meet a friend at their office to go out for dinner and while he was waiting met a Japanese woman who was there for a couple of meetings, and then to take vacation before returning. They got on like a house on fire, to the extent that his friend left them to go to dinner. A month later she had missed her flight home, partly because she thought she was pregnant. Six months later he came to me and asked what he should do because she was going to give birth soon and didn't have medical insurance. I told him to confess all to the company and the INS. I figured the worst case he'd get to go live in Japan. Next morning he was at the INS at 6am, they handed over their ID and started to tell their story. They INS officer looked at his military ID and her passport and then took a good look at her, then asked "Did you meet while you were serving there?" and then just started filling out paperwork. He didn't even listen to the answer. Je just assumed she was another military fiancé. They left with her status secure and got married that day. Apparently the INS can be nice when they want to be.

I have a client that I've worked with for years who is an importer of aircraft from another country and has brought a huge wealth of knowledge and a large skill set to aviation in the United States. It was one of the coolest phone calls I've ever taken at the office when he called me to tell me that he had finally been given his official US citizenship. He was so proud to officially be an American and know that he doesn't have to worry about his status as a foreign citizen. What a relief to get that permanent citizenship for your wife and it's very easy to tell from her tears of joy that she was happy to get through each step. I wish you both the best and good job pushing through the crazy regulations.

Hey Sylvia and Jonas, we are so happy for you guys, that it worked out finally. I remember the talk we had at High Sierra fly in, where Jonas told me that he is thinking about proposing to you, because he misses you so much when you are gone, and he just wants to have you by his side all the time. You are such a nice couple. Crazy all over the world the same problem, people who really want to get into a country for a good reason like wanting to work or be with the person they love, the government gives them a hard time and than on the other side they flood the countries with migrants without any background checks... Wishing you all the best, happy holidays and a merry Christmas

This reminds me of our experience 22 years ago but for us it was a little different in that we were married in Colombia before she came to the US. The entire process is crazy and, at least fo us, the immigration office seemed to keep adding requirements. I might add that we only met one official that wasn't rude and obnoxious. It's infurating to see what is happening on our southern boarder. It is amazing to think those illigals will be able to vote sooner that Mrs. Marcinko!

Having been through this process years ago, I can imagine how the government has complicated it since then. There is a repeat of the interview after a two year period to remove the probationary status and make the permanent resident status permanent. Now, getting my kids immigrated from Korea took four years!

Congratulation Silvja and Jonas. Listening to you reminded me of the hoops my son and his Ukrainian wife had to jump through. Unless you are going through it, you have no appreciation of the expense, time and commitment it takes to get a foreign-born spouse into the US. They persevered and ten years later (maybe 11) she became a US citizen last month. Congrats on the marriage and getting your green card. Best wishes for a bright future.

We did our own paperwork and it was very stressful for my wife and I definitely how much the U.S. poked into my business and before the scamdemic it still took 18 months of not knowing anything until we got to the final green card appointment interview. And 2 weeks later my wife received her green card. We both still remember the huge relief. Man, I would rather go to war than live through that again thinking a government has the right to reject a man's choice of his life partner. That was rough. I am very happy for the both of you. We eventually figured out our lawyer was scamming us by charging for all kinds of extra paperwork that we didn’t need. The most extreme was that he’d filed for refugee protection (we’re from Canada). When came time for my citizenship I just did it on my own.

Having gone through this same process, I can say that a lot of it does make sense - try and block the scammers and ensure the person immigrating is not a criminal. The big problems are crazy wait times and no customer service. Kind of like most other gov services, come to think of it!

Congratulations Silvja and Jonas. Your journey is almost the same me and my wife went through18 years ago; long distance relationship for almost two years, trips to London, Spain, Andorra, Poland; also, two weddings and we also did all our paperwork ourselves. It was a smart choice to follow the rules and take the time to do it the right way despite the stress (taking shortcuts often makes people ineligible to legalize their status, as you know by now). People who went through the same process know how much time and stress it took you. All the best on your journey as husband and wife!

And if you remember from last week we did end up making it back to the philippines for christmas we had to push up our flights and spend a week in quarantine and many covid tests later we are here with my wifes famly and they are finally about to meet our 2 year old daughter. It is incredibly special and amazing watching my inlaws with my daughter and i'm glad despite covid we were finally able to make it. My daughter married a lovely young man from Ethiopia about 14 years ago. We investigated and found that the fiance visa is much simpler and direct. Yes, it did require waiting for him to complete the requirements to obtain the visa, but it was much quicker than marriage in Ethiopia and then immigration. The US system is so complex and opaque. And expensive! Many people have a mistaken perception that it is very simple and cheap (not sure why), but it is not. After they got married, it took several months and lots of phone calls for him to get his green card to enable him to get work (he's a pharmacist). I remember making a map of the phone tree to actually get someone to respond. Ridiculously complicated! Congratulations! And really appreciate you sharing your experience and insights to help others along this path. This is how we unite the world, one marriage at a time!

We also studied for our Green Card interview only to have it be really quick. Our interview was scheduled for 4:00pm on a Friday. When we were invited into the interview office, the person doing the interview said our interview was the last one to be done in the Portland, Oregon office before shutting it down and moving. We also had piles of documents and a photo album - this was around fifteen years ago. The officer didn't look at anything. As I recall he asked a few questions and said we looked married and said we could go.

Many (tens of thousands) have been flown in to military bases around the US. There are camps set up where they are processed and dispersed around the country. I have seen this happen. I have personally tracked the aircraft flying in and out. And too see what the government put such a wonder couple through is despicable. May God bless you both. EVERYONE should have an equal shot at coming here - that's the way our Founders designed this country. Unfortunately, they're picking a certain group to fast-track in, to ensure future political domination in the name of votes. Sad times we live in, for sure. So happy for you both that you found each other and that you’ve been able to work through all the hassles to be together. I hope you will work hard to protect what you have together. It is amazing and rare and beautiful. You belong together. Never doubt it or let anything threaten it. It’s a priceless gift. Looking foreword to The videos to come! God bless you!

Touching story Jonas have been watching your videos for a while the first time I saw Silvija I said man that guy better marry that girl! She is super sweet! So good job. I have many problems with all the hoops they make you jump through to come here legally and I can on some level understand it,, but they are allowing many to come here illegally and is not right and they get a pass. While people like you and Silvija are faced numerous hurdles and untold expenses to play by the rules! Congrats to both of you!

This videos are adorable but also hard to watch because it just pains us after we see all ur videos and see how much you guys care for each other the stress you had to deal with to be able to just be together and be ok with working and beein next to each other. But at the same time if this video helps even ONE PERSON to deal with this or not be afraid of the process then this video is more than great.

I sympathize with your process - so glad you made it thru. I got married here in 2000 but it took until 2005 for me to finally get my naturalization - long job and expensive too. Super happy for you guys.

Just watched this video for the second time. Great story. Be nice to see you two in the Capella someday taking a trip somewhere like you did in the Kit Fox. Got together with a bunch of skydivers I use to jump with and this W/E at Eloy Az. I also flew jumpers in Calif and Az. for many years. Adventure is the name of the game and you two are a breath of fresh with your adventurous ways. Keep going and I'll be watching your videos. Blue Skies.. R.

Wonderful! Thank you both (especially Silvija of course) for going through the process of becoming an American the right way!!! It obviously isn't easy but I personally believe it is what America needs to be doing and it is of course WORTH IT. Welcome to your new "home" Silvija! I personally am happy to welcome you to the best country on earth. I served in the USAF for 20+ years and I very much love America, my country. The only hope I have is that you now take the citizenship to heart and vote in your elections to keep this great country free and as the founders intended. Enjoy America to the fullest (I know you both do and will continue to do so; I watch all your videos :). Looking forward to more videos from you both!!! P.S. You're a lucky man Jonas!!! God bless you both!

Congratulations, Silvja and Jonas...an amazing couple! I just moved to Star, Idaho after living my 73 years in Minnesota. 44 years in the emergency and investigative services. Now I am a freelance writer. Went from guns to pens. Used to fly, mostly inverted. Your story is inspiring and a rare testament to what integrity and love is truly about. Your strength in working through the difficulties and challenges a long-distance relationship brought into both of your lives is a monument to that rarity these days, a commitment to love, no matter what the pressures and challenges bring upon all of your decision making. I speak from a current predicament which is a weight on the heart. I wish the two of you all the great things life can bring to you. The both of you and your story is awe inspiring. Truly. I love your videos more than ANY other flying related videos...by...far! Thank you!

Nice work! How could I expect anything less from two people that take challenges, risks and see them through. Rarely, out of the whole, wide world do you find two people meant to be together like you two. Half way around the world courtship and political barriers to jump. And, now your lives and uniquely beautiful love story begins. Congratulations, Jonas and Silvja. 🎊. Paul
