Good call. A smaller retaliation from Drouin would only be a minor for both players but cross-checking behind the head while the opponent is down on the ice was a one step too high.

@@drewvaillancourt7205 I am habs fan and no, I am not okay with a cross check in the face at faceoff. I understand Drouin's frustration and I would have been enraged like him. But crosschecking behind the head is extremely dangerous (Todd Bertuzzi-Moore incident).

Look like the surprise of was him getting his face driven into the ice on the second cross check to the neck after seguins initial cross check. Probably would have let them wash out tit for tat but they’ll call that second one every time.

Knowing how the nhl has been this is going to be a major then a 5 game suspension. Next game someone’s going to crosscheck Suzuki’s head into the ice when he doesn’t have a helmet on and there won’t even be a whistle on the play.

Honestly I haven't watched much hockey in a while outside of last year's playoffs. And the crosscheck chops are totally cra. And it was super common. I wouldn't be surprised if that got started with the bruins, hackathon. And getting a crosscheck up is way dangerous looked like that guys neck was getting pretty torqued.

Seguin deservered some retaliation but Drouin went a bit too ham. Wilson got a 5k fine for worse so Drouin shouldn't be suspended. NHL hates the habs but don't actually know if suspending Drouin helps or penalizes them so who knows what will happen.

If refs wouldn't miss 100 penalties a game, I don't think Drouin or any player for that matter would take retaliation penalties. We all know the ref wasn't calling the Seguin crosscheck off the draw. I dunno, I'm a Leafs fan, but kind of on Drouin's side on this one. Call the game properly NHL.

@@connerhockey2540 Yes, I refereed University hockey... Not that that matters. I know from experience and common sense, that when hockey becomes lawless; not policing an obviously chippy game, the players act out because there is no consequence. Being a leafs fan I see this a lot, the leafs are winning, the refs know from their overlords at the NHL that they want a close game because of viewership and advertising revenue. The refs put away the whistles, and the opposing team starts getting away with obvious penalties. It sullys the game in my opinion. I know this game wasn't close, and I am going on a tangent. But, basically the ref who dropped the puck saw the check to the face off the draw.... blow the whistle! Separate before anything else occurs. I've seen this thousands of times, call the penalties properly, guys are afraid to commit any, and they STOP trying to get away with stuff like this.

If the draw at been at the top of his mind, he would have went for the puck first instead of Drouin's neck. I'm not defending anyone but Seguin got up high never made contact with him. But the cross-check from Drouin while sitting on top of him multiple times was gutless as well. They both should have gotten 5 mins. Drouin should have gotten and did get the misconduct for continuing to go after him while his head was on the ice.

@@q3zenith well if you can think beyond he started it he started it! then you may begin to realize that a likely accidental shove on the neck with the stick is a bit different from crushing a guy's neck down with your stick with far more force and for a significantly longer amount of time. You might even begin to realize why the guy was penalized so severely. I highly doubt it but hey
