Wilkinson is the best player to ever have played rugby he is the most well rounded player to have ever played, his most iconic moment was the 2003 rugby world cup final the drop goal is so much better as it was his weak foot, as the clips have shown Wilkinson can tackle as well!!!

I can't understand why Australia and New Zealand get butthurt when we rate Johnny in the same breath as Carter and Larkham. He may not have commanded a back line as sublimely as Carter, or had the magical attacking skills of Larkham, but he's a better boot than both and better defensively, although carter is a good defender too. He deserves to be in such company.

I agree that DC is a better all round gifted rugby player, but the fact of the matter is that no one player has had a bigger impact on promoting the game (especially in the northern hemisphere) than Wilkinson. He brought about a new sense of professionalism to the game and set a good example for future generations. A Rugby World Cup legend indeed

He is also good in defense The definition of the perfect fly-half = WILKO. I'm very happy to see him in our championship in France, and I'm very happy because he will not play the crunch in the futur and Toby Flood is worse of him ;-)

Injuries ruined him..hes essentially been a shell for the past few years( a really good shell at that).He gave his backrows such freedom in that they didnt have to babysit him on D.Great player

in NZ , jonny wouldnt of even played at standoff/1st 5/fly 1/2 at international level unless there was an emergency, coz he cant ignite a running backline. Which in my neck of the woods is the mark of a true quality 1st5

fair play. i know if you shoulder charge/body check a player without making any attempt to wrap arms in open play it should be a pen, but on this clip he goes with his arms. granted he doesnt wrap him, but its his hands that make the contact. I would be interested to see what the outcome is if a player gets charged into touch (no attempt with the arms) in the process of scoring though i have to admit.

Sure Jonny Wilkinson was an amazing goal kicker, dropped goals included and his defence was right up there with the best for his position but he didn't take the ball to the line. Not once in his tribute did he make a break or set up a try. Yeah he kicked a dropped goal to win his side the WC but that doesn't earn you greatness. Sure he's good but you could never classify him as one of the legends of the game
