What should you do if you are with family on a train or bus, or in a restaurant and someone starts ranting and threatening? Wait to see if he pulls a gun or knife and starts shooting or stabbing? If you restrain him and injure or kill him unintentionally, what should you be charged with? Should you be judged by the degree of force or for misjudging the time needed to subdue him? Even trained police don't always get it right. I don't have the answers, and neither do you.

Where was the family of the man killed? Why didn't they try to get him help, because eventually he could have really hurt some. The family knows he has mental illness, and should know that he was a ticking time bomb.

This is what happens when you repeatedly release mental criminals instead of locking them in a proper facility. I don't doubt he was crazy, that was obvious... this dude had a rap sheet a mile long, including repeatedly assaulting the elderly. He broke a 67 year old woman's orbital bone, beat a 64 year old man, and also tried to kidnap a 7 year old girl. They should bury him under the prison.

There is nothing heroic about killing an unarmed person. Neutralize the threat....that is what Marines learn. This Marine must have missed that instruction, and he is paying for it.

Snowflakes say “defund the police”. Then in a situation like this they say “why couldn’t he just call the police?”. It’s comical.

I would say that choking someone to death is not an accident there are many submissions and holds that don't kill but neutralize the ability to move not to mention there were a couple other people there to help keep the man subdued without killing him. If he was mentally ill, then that would make this even worse for this trained marine who would have been taught how to properly choke someone, which means he knew exactly what he was doing when he murdered that guy.

Why is the family or supporters screaming "Penny needs to go to prison. Neely's life had value." Where were they when Neely needed a place to live? And food to eat?
