The real skill there was the helmsman of the pilot boat and the pilot picking just that right moment To board the ship and keeping the pilot boat in position even though the ship turned to try an give a lee

Reminds me of Going up the River to Le Verdon (France) the Bay can be a dangerous place as can the Atlantic coast. Big swells rolling in and high winds 🤮🤮🤮

The Pilot Boat done a good job getting the Pilot aboard, at least the ship had a gangway and not the old fashioned wood and rope Jacobs Ladder over the side! Great video, thank you.

The pilot has to climb the Jacob's ladder to reach the gangway. It would be too dangerous for the pilot boat to try and go alongside the gangway itself.
