Personality wise, Jose is my favorite manager. He was the master of chaos, rattling everyone. Only rival manager I’ve ever liked (this was cemented at the “specialist at failure” comment. Even Fergie couldn’t say shit like that 😂).

I love Jose. I didn’t when Scholes’s goal was inexplicably disallowed against Porto in 04, but I think he would have gone on to kill it at United, if he was backed properly. Brian Clough is the only other manager as charismatic.

Can proudly say I never called for Jose's head, as it was glaringly obvious then that player attitudes and the mess of a board were the major issues at the club. Ole's vibes were good and patched it for a while, but alas, the problems arose again and took his job too. Lotta love for Jose.

Pretty sure by “cleaning the house” he meant that the structure at the football club needed to be fixed before buying new players. He alluded to this multiple times throughout the interview, like when you asked him about what is more important in building a successful team he also mentioned the structure and communication lines being clear and simple for everyone to pull in the same direction

Jose's "cleaning the house" metaphor was about "to get new furniture you have to get rid of the og furniture" (misquoting Jose a little here) which was referring to getting rid of players to sign new ones but he could only "clean the house" in that he was trying to "polish" what he had to compete - effectively, in other words, he said "I wanted to build a winning team because it wasn't there but I was tasked with shithousing and winning trophies with scraps" hence why he says 2nd is his best achievement because lets be honest that bunch wasn't 2nd in the premier league worthy.

I can see a lot of Manchester United fans still have love for Mourinho. I've always he said was the right manager for Manchester United at the wrong time. Personally, he should have been hired right after Ferguson retired. It's a shame the board and players screwed him over despite dragging these sorry lot to 2nd place and League Cup and Europa League titles a season prior. I've never hated Mourinho at all even during his time at Manchester United.

The Woodward stuff is constructive criticism. It's exactly how you handle a performance review. Before you tell your employee what you actually need them to change, you tell them all the positives they bring. Polite, punctual, and well presented aren't really compliments. 😂

They left the Roma bit in. It was very weird. Also, him saying he wanted to clean house was obvious. He wanted to get players out more than he wanted players in and mentions the profile of certain players being wrong and after 2 years having a good idea of who he wanted to stick around. Finally, the move by Five to split up podcasts and interviews in search of more "engagement" and viewer retention is stupid. Not only does it break the flow but what's going to end up happening in the long term is that the views between different parts will be skewed. The parts featuring United talk for example will get more than the views for chat about other clubs and whatever advantage Five things it's getting by splitting videos into parts will be undermined by the reality that people are only interesting in certain topics and view counts on videos will vary wildly in the long term.

'Clean the house' meant to get rid of players. It was rumoured at the time he didn't want Shaw, Martial and Pogba. Apparently Martial was a favourite of Joel Glazer.

I reckon the future guest is Wazza. He’s just done The Overlap, and you usually find that they do kind of ‘mini podcast tours’ and end up banging out a few different shows within a month. So it would make sense to me if it’s Rooney that’s coming on. And outside of Fergie, Eric and Ronaldo, Rooney is the next biggest. There’s really only him or Zlatan, and I can’t see how it would be Zlatan.

If JM comes back he will fix the defence first and that is what we need as we can damage teams on the counter-attack, MU is no longer suited for any other kind of play, we don't have the players capable of playing control position, constant attack and press.

I'm a big fan of the work Five do, but this was amateur hour on the questioning. Superficial answers you'd hear elsewhere after questions designed for salacious headlines were rebuffed. Anything in-depth on tactical evolution; strengths and weaknesses in youth development; death of flair players etc. 95% we'd heard elsewhere, besides sin bins and some of the challenges of complicated football structures.

The only way the Spurs sacking makes sense to me is something happened between Mourinho and Levy. We all know Levy’s ego, I reckon he thought sacking Mourinho hurt enough, and if he had kept him on to probably win that league cup, sacking Mourinho would make Jose a martyr. So he sacked him when he did to twist the knife in mourinho and save face, all at the expense of spurs winning a trophy lol. That’s why spurs owner made sure he sold Kane, because he knew levy’s ego can get in the way of the club at times. Just conjecture. I totally made it up. But yeah, that’s my two cents. Anyway who cares about spurs?

the thing with Jose coming right after Sir Alex scenario is everybody gotta get over that. No matter what Jose would have done at Man Utd in 2014,2015,etc the wheels would have come off eventually and we would have been back to square one anyway.

Roma has an average team and his net spend was less then 20m, what did they want him to do ? They don't have a better team overall from Lazio or Atalanta let alone the richer clubs.

Roma ranked 17th of the 20 clubs for transfer spending this season, only above Verona, Empoli and Frosinone. If anything he overachieved with them.
