The Three Tenors is a name given to the Spanish singers Plácido Domingo and José Carreras and the Italian singer Luciano Pavarotti who sang in concert under this banner during the 1990s and early 2000s. The trio began their collaboration with a performance at the ancient Baths of Caracalla, in Rome, Italy, on July 7, 1990 -- the eve of the 1990 FIFA World Cup Final. Zubin Mehta conducted the orchestra of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the orchestra of Teatro dell'Opera di Roma.

Omg for many years I thought no one else could sing this piece better than Mario Del Monaco until now, i absolutely loved the way Jose performed it, he truly made this song his own.

My favorite tenor ever. More heart and soul and personal depth than any other. I prefer his slower tempo here that better matches his moderate vibrato. Jose has seen more deterioration in vocal quality over the years due to his insistence upon hitting every high note as it is written, and not habitually easing into it as do others whose voices last longer by doing so. Ah, but while Jose's lasted............... perfecto! The only way a high should be sung. Same story as Maria Callas.....integrity over longevity. Bravo, and Brava!!!

Carreras is wonderful in this. He has always used his voice beautifully and it is a golden instrument to begin with. His interpretation is in the best tradition of Neapolitan song. I loved it! 5 stars *

Have been listening to renditions of this most beautiful song all afternoon. How on earth can anyone say one version is better than another? Sung with the heart you can listen to ahundred versions without it becoming "boring".

Maestro Carreras died and left his soul on stage everytime he sang. That's something neither Domingo or Pavarotti did. He was extremely expressive.. He touched me everytime he sang
