To answer a question posed in the video: no, that was not Oregon’s starting offensive line on either side. They mixed and matched starters with back ups. Certain defensive linemen then had great days against favorable matchups. The offensive line is looking to be really good, and the defensive line is looking to be special.
@jeremygilbert7989
@jeremygilbert7989 Ай бұрын
They also mixed it up at every other position. Noah Whittington didn't play a snap and Jordan James saw minimal play time just as an example but we saw mostly backups throughout the game. Hell, they even let the 5th string walk on QB get in for a set of downs. This was more a forecast for next years talent than it was a showcase for this years.

They also mixed and matched their D-Line. That was a great moved by our coaches, because they didn’t expose their starting lineup of both sides of the ball in front of everyone.

If I remember correctly, Oregon has been doing this since Mike Bellotti’s days as HC.

The starting OL will be good but I’m now more worried about the depth. If any of tackles get hurt we could be in some trouble.

Oregon is pretty loaded this season. They should be capable of beating anyone. Not saying they will beat everyone, but that they have the talent and depth to do so

I’m glad they kept the gameplan as bland as possible, I didn’t want them showing even a hint of their hand for the season. The defense looked ahead of the curve, I would much rather see a solid d line and a pick than coverage bust after coverage bust that teams like Texas have which make everyone think their backup QB is unreal. Perfect spring game, save for the injuries (dammit how did Dickey get hurt again! 🤬🤬🤬🤬)

Coach Lanning and our coaching staff made a great move by not showcasing our starting lineups for both offense and defense. This team improved significantly. Go DUCKS

Yeah, both sides is a total mashup of players all up and down the depth chart so you can’t lean too much on it. Just a glimpse of some of the up and comers

OL will be fine but I do have concerns about depth at Tackle. I only feel good about 3 tackles on roster right now. I think there will also be slight growing pains moving on from JPJ at center but I do feel okay about them working that out. Really thought the defense looked much quicker and deeper at every single position however interior DL will still have to prove itself in big games. Finally, Gabriel is good but he's definitely not Bo Nix.

Iapani was good at center when he played there so I think we're good. Conerly, Cornelius,, harper, etc. Our line is still gonna be pretty good. Depth could be an issue but I trust the players Lanning chose

Josh, OREGON splits the first team up evenly on both sides. So that wasn't the o line you will see.

In order to slow transfers Oregon does not have starters and backups in spring ball. The spring game reflected that. You may have a starting tackle next to a third string guard and backup center. The offensive line is the unit that needs the most cohesiveness therefore it is going to struggle the most. I have no doubt the actual line they play in actual games is going to be a huge strength of this team. Two of the best tackles in all of college football. You say the left side of the line struggled but it wasn’t 1s vs 2s it was a random mix of every lineman the hav on the team.

I feel bad for Ohio state Dillon Gabriel have more experience than Howard plus more wr plus in Oregon ya sounds like Washington last year against Oregon sadly we lost but we pulling out a Washington and this year I think Oregon will finally win one unlike Washington last year

You failed when you said Oregon fell short last year trying to out physical an opponent. Total bs and nothing to do with truth. They failed last year... against one team: Washington. Lost by 3 pts both games. Missed opportunities both times. However, they lost due to secondary and arguably pass rush. Both their D-line and O-lines dominated. Whomever feeds you information: they suck. The best thing that happened in Oregon's Spring game was seeing dramatic improvement in both secondary and pass rush.

Oregon bullied them in the first matchup. The second one they were missing their starting edge guy and both starting CB. Depth should be much better this season at those positions.

the first game we were good but in the 2nd udub out physicalled us on both lines. Lanning made good adjustments during halftime but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit. huskies should've won by 2 scores but a quick td made it more respectable. i believe being favored by double digits an giving us all the hype went to our heads an gave wash fuel an anger. in the end both games are classics an we never quit an played our hearts out. this Ducks team under lanning is frothing at the mouth to win a natty an with all the talent he's bringing in i feel our chances are pretty good

Oregon is going to be in the 12 team playoff this year, barring catastrophic injuries. Then it's a crapshoot to see which of the 10 teams capable of winning it all get the breaks.

Ohio State at home and road games in November to Michigan and Wisconsin. Boise State and Oregon State are decent for OOC games. The only likely playoff team in the B1G they miss is Penn State. Not the toughest, but much tougher than last year.

6 teams on the schedule were top 25 last year. 2 in the top 10. That's a pretty heavy schedule. Obviously teams like Maryland, Oregon State, UW and UCLA might fall off and be unranked but it's not like they are in the SEC and playing Chattanooga in week 9.

ohio has issues upfront offensively,and will have this fall. The QB is a crapshoot.Howard is a big fugger and he can run. He is also inaccurate as hell.59% career passer. And he throws it to the other team. He would have been beat out at KSU. No matter what the narrative is ohio's WR's are wayyyyy overranked and overvalued.The hype is unbelievable...lol....Besides Ballard who is/will be a backup? They lack elite speed...But their HOMERS and the national press build them up EVERY year as a room full of Moss's and Jerry Rices🤣🤣🤣They are NOT..Just a room full of possession guys...IF egbuka was elite? he would have been in the draft...TE's are average to below...One RB is a glass doll.But fast.The other busts glass all over the clubhouse when things dont go his way.... Their D-Line is experienced but has lacked production. Their edge guys get a lot of ink but have never done shit except 1 game for both.They gave all 4-5 of their Defensive front guys big "BAGS" to come back,but all 4 would have been in the draft if they were rated highly enough. And they werent.Their ILBs are unproven. Their backend added Bagboy Downs. But he is an run the alleys safety. He wont make much difference because of how pathetic ohio's schedule will be and the piss-poor offenses they play sans Oregon,Michigan,and possibly PUsu....
