It was definitely a stingray. Nothing else gives you a powerful run like that and then glues itself to the bottom. Anything else that big is always swimming away from you, or occasionally away from you then towards you, only yee old stingray sticks to the bottom. Growing up I spent many a long while red faced trying to lift stingrays off the bottom with the old man telling me to stop wasting my time and just cut the line. Got a few up to the boat of course, but the old codger new best as usual.
