The recent discovery of missing person Lauren Cho's remains in Joshua Tree prompts a grim reminder of the dangers of the desert and safety precautions everyone should take before venturing out into the wilderness.

That urban legend maybe has been around since `97. When I moved there, someone told me a creepy story about him, and when I asked the locals, they said, "It was an urban legend that has been going on for yrs. since the '60s or maybe longer." Sorry, I kind of believe that there is a serial killer out there. Every time I hear that someone died bizarrely. Who knows?

I was at Joshua Tree for several days in April 2021 for a photo excursion...it was blazing hot back then. If you're hiking alone and not really paying attention to your surroundings, its very easy to get disoriented, especially if you're away from the crowds and off the beaten path. Stick to the marked trails, and bring plenty of water, especially in the really hot months...you can never have enough.

While I'm glad there was mention of Joseph, Erika, & Patrick I'm appalled that there was no mention of the beautiful Native American soul who was taken too soon, James Escalante! Why is this? Both James & Erika Lloyd went missing within a week & a half of each other, similar oddities with their cases...yet no mention of him. This sickens me that we get to pick & choose which cases are seen & which are brushed under the rug & forgotten about. His remains were found down the road from where Erika's were found & the disappearance & COD still remain a mystery to the masses. Those who were close to him & who followed his case & continue to beg for justice are just astonished when coming across news stories like this that fail to include him. James Escalante...say his name!!!!

Thank you so much for helping to keep his name and story out there. Our family is so sick and tired of being re-victimized by Law Enforcement and the media who have made it more than ABUNDANTLY clear to us that his life and death mean nothing to them. Meanwhile, our family, like countless other families who are being subjected to the same biases, continue to fight, seek answers and/or justice, and wake daily in a nightmare that most can't even begin to fathom. The support we've had from you and people like you continues to be a beacon of hope for us, and a reminder that there are still good people in the world.

I don’t believe Lauren died from the elements . I don’t know how she died, but I think it’s more likely she was killed then dieing from heat or animals. Worse case scenario she wanders off away from her house drunk falls asleep probably 10-15min away cause she’s drunk and doesn’t make it that far wakes up 6-12 hrs later max not drunk in fact very hungover .. and walks home. She wouldn’t be lost. This story doesn’t add up … and how come it took them 5 months to find her body ?

I know Cody, we were friends and went to school together. He is not a violent person, and even when he got angry, he didn't scream and yell or act aggressive in any way. He never has been.
