I personally would love a booklet with the weekly pages combined with the commonplace ones. It would be a great capsule of a time period.

One alternative so that you don’t feel too pressured with the timeframe is to have 3 months in each booklet instead of 4 months and then instead of having 3 books for the year, you would end up having 4. I love how the pages are laid out and just how versatile they are whether you want a neutral and minimal setup or colorful✨ Also love the gray covers which again can be easily customized with stickers or images or left with that soft gray.

I'm just like you as well. I change things a lot but it's almost like I HAVE TO CHANGE THINGS because if something about my commonplace book is bothering me then it really affects my performance and overall enthusiasm to continue. For example i was really into white pages a week ago then suddenly i woke up and i was like "damn this is blinding me, i need ivory pages" and i changed to an ivory one. And for the longest time i couldn't fill up a5 because it was too big but now I'm using b5 and i think it is the perfect size 😂 my preferences changed so many times over the years now i stopped questioning myself. I do what feels best at that point in time. I don't think I'll ever stick to one way of doing things cause different things feel better at different times ❤

The TN size looks so lovely! I personally would prefer separate commonplace pages to planning because I don't fill my commonplace pages up as quickly (as I don't do personal journaling in them). Having them separate would also mean I could mix and match the commonplace booklet with a different planner system - as I also like to change up my planning :)) I'm really interested see how your planner system settles at the end of the year
@MeganRhiannon
@MeganRhiannon 10 ай бұрын
yes, that makes sense! i don't always either, hence the idea for separate books. i'll probably end up offering both format options- i hope you like it if you decide to give it a try! hoping to make a big (very big) round-up of all the systems i tried this year and choose something to hopefully settle with next year.

I love that you are acknowledging and leaning into your desire to try new things and embrace change, especially when change is not often easy and familiar is almost too easy. I have been watching your videos over the last couple years and I find your attic archives episodes warm and comforting. The comfort of ordinary things. You have such a unique and obvious aesthetic that is present in your work, your space, and your personal style. The clean, simple lines of things, the harmonizing colour schemes, the spooky vibes. Perfect! Would you mind sharing what printer you use to print out all your little commonplace pictures? Do you modify them in a specific program? Good luck with your new venture. I hope some day international shipping isn't quite so cumbersome a process so we Canadians can support your lovely artwork and participate in the magic :) cheers!

The paper feeling is real. I love TR paper, but only w/ the fountain pen. Anything else seems to write so messily, and the fountain pen on any paper I'd use a ballpoint on feels so rough and scratchy. I never would've guessed paper could have such different characteristics but here we are.

aah, it's looking so cool! i am all set up for the rest of this year, but definitely interested in trying it out for next year 😍personally i would prefer the planning and commonplacing in separate booklets, because for me those things have different energies (so scientific lol). i suppose for people printing it themselves, it would be easy to mix and match as preferred 🤔but honestly i would also prefer to just buy the finished product and not have to faff with priting myself 😅in any case, super excited to see how you develop this further! take good care xx

I love watching your journey so much! Using TN notebooks would solve the problem of storing pages for me; I love the idea of using a Filofax for the flexibilty, but having all the year in one or multiple booklets just makes more sense to me storing wise! I'm based in Italy so I would get the printables, I would really love to try them 🤩 I am also team planner and common pages in separete books! The only thing I would love to see is the writing and lines of the pages a little less harsh! I think the grid looks super good and somehow i feel like the black of the rest of the page is a little bit too intense, but it's just a suggestion ofc! Anyhow I can't wait to try em! It’s amazing that you’re going to make your own planner! As for the index/contents page, I’d suggest to just make it an unlabelled blank spread. Then people can decide freely what they want to use it for - as a goal setting page, a packing list (my favourite way to use a blank page in the beginning of a planner), a moodboard … or an actual index page. 😉

i've been wondering if you ever considered making your old sketchbook zines available for download, especially the sherlock centric ones, i've always eyed them when you were still shipping abroad but never caved due to the shipping or them having sold out! i would love to get to view them! i'm also wondering how you feel about printing parts of them out to put inside of a planner, i think carrying some of the sherlock pages around with me would really lift my spirits 🕵🏼‍♀️ (personally think the idea of using a booklet around a month as you're trying out is a satisfying idea but i get that practice doesn't fit around an ideal!)

hmm maybe but honestly a lot of the time it's nice to move on from old work, especially as it changes over the years and i don't always like the old stuff as much. i dont have any sherlock centric zines, but i'll consider adding digital prints of my sherlock sketchbook pages to the shop with the update! ❤‍🩹

Would you like to share the name of the website where you downloaded the grid? 2. If you’re printing your pages & stickers at home, what are the settings on the printer then to be able to get the most use out of each sheet of paper? 3. What are the dimensions of the different layouts you’ve printed previously & what’s the file type of the files? Hope to hear from you! ☺️

I just sat down to journal in my own TN and I squealed with excitement to see you try one out - I love the way you’ve translated your layouts into Traveller’s Notebook sizing, especially since I’ve been so inspired by your Filofax pages (but have been unsure of how to space out my grids to fit my notebook inserts) 🥺 I definitely journal in a goblin pose!! For some reason I feel the need to see the page right near my eyes haha I am definitely very interested in the style of notebooks you’ve been prototyping!! I love the layouts you’ve designed and my mind always blanks for hours trying to figure out how to design and draw in my own - would you be open to producing a passport size of the booklets (or would I be able to resize the digital version? Am [sadly] located in Australia) I especially love the weekly layout - I’m a huge fan of horizontal weeklies 🤩 I love your routine of one-page introductions for your interests for the purpose of breaking in a new notebook - I’ll definitely be trying that out in my current journaling session (am starting new inserts for September). I’ve been lurking for the past few years and your videos have been so helpful and comforting for me and my journaling routines - thank you for your videos, Megan! Take your time with everything and take care of yourself ❤️

at the moment i only have plans for standard size, just because passport is a completely different shape and the page designs would need a lot of adjustment (not sure everything would even fit!). i'll be making a digital version of the standard size, so you'd be welcome to try and resize it, yes! standard is just my focus for the time being. thanks for your support of the booklets and my channel, im glad you like the videos ❤‍🩹

the heat sensitive nature of the friction erasure makes them risky to use- if your pages get too hot or cold the text can disappear completely, then reappear with additional erased text showing etc. just not the most reliable! but i haven’t had an issue yet and i’ve been using them for seven or so years 👀
@codemeister05
@codemeister05 10 ай бұрын
I don't like the feeling of how they write... And I felt like the erasure was never good enough to say so... And I prefer a permanent ink, TBH. But it's also been several years since I've used them, so it may be different now. But I have specific ones I know I like, and I'm a creature of habit.

I find margins annoying 🤔 but perhaps I’ve never known what to use them for. I’m curious why you always mention you love a good margin, what do you fill the space with if you’re writing right alongside it? I imagine if you’re brains dumping you would just put it in the body of text right? Unless you’re sub-commenting to whatever it is you’ve written?
