Oh Kodi Lee .....im the mom of a kiddo with a super rare genectic disease known as GAMT, a creatine disorder. If caught at birth its completely treatable, however his wasnt diagnosed until 5 years ago. Hes nonverbal and has epilepsy and autism also. He will be 18 next month. Im 40 today. Im currently trying to get my state to add to our newborn screenings as it was added to the RUSP last year, so that others dont have to live our story.....of struggle and defeat......This song spoke to my heart as ive been struggling lately and feeling defeated. I can only hope my son knows how much i love him and that i tried my very best daily. God has given you such an amazing gift with your voice and song writing. I had symptoms of a brain tumor while pregnant with my son. I was finally diagnosed and had surgery when he was 5. I bargained with God, saying I could handle everything as long as my son was OK. My son is severely learning disabled and one of the kindest people you could ever meet. He is 30. We both are ok.

I was tearing up almost as much as your mom when I watched you perform it on AGT. 13 years ago (at 27 years old) I was diagnosed with cancer... my mom immediately had me move home so she could care for me. Some years later she survived a brain aneurysm and my sister and I had the absolute honour of returning the favour and being her caregivers so that she had the support she needed to leave long-term care and live at home as independently as she could. She LOVED AGT and you were one of her favourite contestants. We lost her a year and a half ago and so hearing this song that encapsulates so much of what I felt when mom cared for me, and also so much of what she expressed to my sister and me is so very, very precious.
