In this week's episode, Patrick and Stuart work on the details of finishing up the chateau farmhouse gîte. They visit a new brocante along with Jane and Tony from "Not Quite a Chateau DIY" and find a lot of items that were needed for the gîte. Patrick's parents also return to the chateau to lend a hand.
Join Patrick and Stuart on their journey to find a neglected, forgotten, or crumbling château in France, and then continue to follow them as they work on its restoration, rénovation, decoration, and furnishing. Along the way, they will also create and share videos on their preparation for having gîtes for guests, and an event venue in their chateau (wedding, birthday, anniversary, organization or club meetings, retreats, etc.).

Lots of Wind, which brings our Summer Rains on from End October on The Highveld .. GAUTENG. Our Altitude is 1753 M above sea Level! We a 6 hour to the Durban coastline! So it’s almost feeling like Summer already! We have very little COVID.. ! We all concerned when the N hemisphere folks Starting to Travel here for our Summer till May next yr. The patches of mauve, purple and white "upside down" flowers are wild cyclamens (cyclamen purpurascens). They are native to central Europe and Slovania, though they grow just about everywhere in Europe and UK from seeds. They mostly bloom in shady glades where lots of humus (leaves, branches, vines, etc.) litter the forest floor in late August and early Fall. The interesting thing about them is that when the flower dies off, it forms a "ball" at the tip and as the days go by, they curl into themselves, creating whirls of corkscrews. Eventually, these "curls" tighten around the "ball" resembling a python squeezing life out of its victim. It's quite the conversation stopper.

It looks great! Just need a persian rug in each room, finished! Maybe a tiny tv somewhere, when I travel I always like to watch local news. My husband always travels with a few of his favorite cd’s. Maybe a small cd/radio player. My European friends love a nespresso machine. Which gite is next !?

@@patrickjourneytothechateau9452 Now if your friends around here are in an old estabished neighborhood around here they faired pretty well but many of the newer neighborhoods they flooded! We were touched by our creek not in the houses but yards behind us so likely we'll get dredged but its been 35 yrs & up creek they have a mall & new dev it flows out too our lake.

Morning Stuart & Patrick, what a lovely video, great spirits and good laughter. Loved the Gite, it looks so cosy and clean. The basic is there more can be added later if necessary, loved the big tile floors. The window divide in the bathroom was a great idea and that wooden hanging board, how magnificent is that? Serbet it has so much character, the design in so nice, polish up those hangers it would look even better or have them done for permanent shine. So worth it. Lovely to have your parents visiting again, think it is also time if possible for the other parents to come for a visit. That brocant was so nice, I bet there were stacks you could have collected, but discipline must be the order of the day. It is a good idea presenting the programme every week in a different section of the chateaux then we become more at home as you progress as well. Must be great not to have drama, that is so stressful, we can do without it. Do take care, kind regards, Elize

Well done guys! The farmhouse is just lovely and I can’t believe you did all that in six weeks. I knew y’all were going to be hard workers when you began this. And the farmhouse reveal was very well done. No guessing on what we were seeing and no feeling of being on a ship at sea during a storm. As always you both don't disappoint. The gite is beautiful, you both did awesome and honestly, it is just what I would do also. The wild cyclamen with the lone bee opera was so awesome. Patrick when you and your Dad put your beers up, I am sure your Dad is ein prosit. Awesome! The best part of this vlog was you both said that you both had a great week. Having family close is very comforting. My folks died young. I have 6 brothers and one sister and although I live near Vancouver and they all live back in Newfoundland, we are all close still, thanks to facetime. Here's wishing you both many more great weeks. 👍

Hi there Cliff. Glad you like the gîte. The curtains are from my parents. Love them. And the ones in the bedroom we bought here in France. 👍🏻😍👍🏻. I liked the table but having used it with my parents and Stuart, I now love it. Rustic table for a rustic space. And the flowers make me smile every day. Hope all is well. @@labellevieinnormandy819 Hannah, we will be so happy to welcome you here. It was a really hectic time. Getting the farmhouse ready after loosing 2 weeks due to the summer flu was stressful. Having Terry and Ash stop overnight was lovely. It seems to be the case that for us, all comes at once or there is almost nothing happening. Stuart’s father had a massive heart attack yesterday and was flown via helicopter to the hospital. He’ll have surgery today in Chicago. My parents are still here thank goodness. Have a wonderful week too. Big hug from us. 🥰

Hello Jill. Thank you. The farmhouse only needs curtains for the second bedroom (they shipped the fabric I ordered 5 weeks ago yesterday 😳🙄), one nightstand and a chest of drawers. I had to re-watch the episode...I find it difficult to read the live comments, interact with other viewers and watch the video at the same time without missing something...and I always do which isn't fair, most of all to Stuart, who works diligently on the filming and editing of each episode. I admire Stuart for giving Patrick credit for the work he does even when Patrick tries to share the credit as when he said "we" did a lot of painting and Stuart said, "No, you did all the painting." [Patrick, Stuart still hasn't caught on that you frequently use the "royal we" when speaking about your actions...lol]. Seriously, you two have a strong partnership and it shows as you support and compliment one another. Six weeks...really!!! You two are amazing and, if I'm not mistaken, you were also feeling a bit under the weather during that time frame. Kudos.
