You know, I grew up old school, shooting from a young age with Men in the family who were all old Army and War Vets and Cops. I never shot anything but Iron Sights and still do today. I had eotech sights on my AR's and ended up taking them off, because I shoot just as well as with a red dot. I have two scoped rifles that are bolt guns, but that's it. I'm fortunate that even in my 60's, my eyes are still able to do Iron sights very quickly.

When I was a Mormon missionary I had a similar experience. We knocked on a man’s door and when he opened I saw an M1913 on the man’s table in the back. I said “hey just so you know a Mormon invented that gun you have” and he let me in. We talked about the Bible while he was smoking cigars and then proceeded to show us his whole gun collection. Within 20 minutes of talking to him I was holding an AK, my companion an AR, and he a Thompson. Good times.

Gotta love my man John Moses Browning! If you asked people what types of firearms are their favorite, you might hear ARs, WWII arms, 1911s, etc. For me it is simply the arms of John Browning. From Winchester 1894s to 1911s, 1887,1897,1912 shotguns, Winchester 1895s, and Colt 1903s. Not to mention his somewhat smaller hand in the Browning Hi Power. As well as the massive input he had on automatic firearms for the US Military. There is a type of firearm discipline for everyone. His influence on the firearms world continues to this day! With the Browning short recoil action being the number one pistol action in use currently.

This was by far the best series TFB TV has produced so far. Thank you very much for sharing it. Clint is a living legend. The bottomless knowledge he represents combined with the integrity only a true warrior has, makes him the perfect teacher for the next generations. @@borkwoof696to me the separation of channels is a commercial decision. Hence, I do not make a differentiation between the 3 channels. That this series was published in James channel is rather statistical to me and most likely a commercial decision to boost his new channel. My Dad was a Ranger in Korea and my Grandfather was with the 101st in WWII. Both used the Garand Rifle and could run them so fast and smooth, including reloads, that it would bring a tear to your eyes. They could literally do at 100 yards, as many rounds as most people with an AR, and hit every time. It was just the rifle that they knew and had literally put thousands of rounds through and had reloaded hundreds of times. Even during the Cold War and after when people thought the possibility of the Sh*t Hitting The Fan in the USA, their food storage and shelter was well equipped with many Grand Clips and ammo cans of 30-06 ammo and of course 45 ACP and many 1911 Mags. Though my choice today is the AR platform, I still have those two glorious rifles.

Awesome story, The Great Generation saved the world. I recently purchased a Korean War era (according to the serial number) M1 Garand and I love shooting it. I'm having a problem with the safety and am not sure who can fix it for me, but I'll figure it out eventually.

I'm from that generation and I hope this generation is exposed to Clint regularly. Many in the younger generation would simply absorb his knowledge. Like the M4 at the end, use the technology if you need it. Many younger people think that just because I use iron sights that I abhor technology, not true I use it where it gives me the advantage.

As someone who loves old guns more than anything modern, this was an awesome series and watching Clint share the history with someone who is learning it for the first time was really cool. I share his passion. I don't just enjoy shooting old guns, I love them because they tell the story of firearms history in real tangible objects you can hold in your hand and enjoy with friends and family.

Absolutely love my IH M1 Garand. But as I`ve gotten older, shakier, and eye sight not so good, I`ve come to like the ARs a lot more than I used to. Light weight and some kind of optics really help us aging old farts. 🙂

I guess being in my mid 60's and having been a shooter for 50 years I have been exposed to a lot of weapons platforms (especially WW 1 & 2 era weapons). I love Clint's philosophy. Don't ignore the technology, but you CAN fight with any weapon; just learn use it to your advantage. I hope you continue to be open to shooting older weapons. I enjoy the channel!

I'm surprised Clint didn't bring out a 1917 Enfield to shoot. Considering the 1917 outnumbered the 1903 Springfield in the AEF (something like 75% of troops were equipped with the 1917).

Oh, and not to belabor the point, there never was an 1917 Enfield. Enfield was called the Pattern 13 (or 14, can’t find it in my books) in America after they had filled the contracts Eddystone and others made the M1917, a near copy of the Pattern 14.

I thouroghly enjoyed these episodes. Clint has an infectious personality that I think anyone can enjoy, even if you could care less about history or firearms. Combine that with the retard firing rounds off, and it makes a great show. I also think your short monologue at the end was great. When people are passionate about something, share it with your friends and family. You never know, they might turn into a (insert addict junkie subject here) and learn to appreciate the time and knowledge you love to share. Bravo, love you guys.

I inherited a 30-40 Krag, it was my granddad's deer rifle and I to this day tell everyone I'm here because that rifle exists since it fed my mom so many times as a child. It's definitely the king of the rifles in my safe. First time I shot it I thought it was broke because a little lever was in the "by pass" position, but I thought the internal magazine was malfunctioning. I loved this series, now time for the hand gun version...

This video made me cry listening to Clint talk just made me miss my uncle he sadly just passed away and lfrom cancer and left me a good collection of his firearms that are feature in this video. So much knowledge and memories he passed on to me glade you did this series of videos with him James. Makes me appreciate what he left me more I love the history behind them a lot and love added them to my armory and service rifle collection

No one can hate old guns. Theyre so cool. My pops recently gave me his 1913 enfield, 30-06. Over 100 years old. Loads smooth as hell, still super accurate. I have been shooting it my whole life. What a guy

To touch on the end of this video, this definitely came across as a grandpa teaching his grandson the old ways and being excited to do so. Clint is an awesome dude.

Whatever their passion, running into guys like Clint is always a special treat. He cares enough to put so much effort into sharing. It is a fool who doesn't recognize the effort and how much they care about the people who take even a casual interest in what they are sharing. These guys will dump decades of learning on you in an hour.

Every single one of those rifles are a privilege to shoot. There are a lot of shooters who will never get the chance to shoot a Sharps, the Burnside or a 4040 Craig. They are guns you hear or read about but will never get to shoot. Then add Clint Smith on top of it all. I would say you are a very lucky man. I am 68 now and have had the privilege to shoot several weapons over my LEO career, you sir had a good day. Great video. Keep them coming.
