Vintage O gauge Tinplate Live Steam Trains: Greenhouse Days 2017

The Greenhouse Days, a non-public players meeting organised by my friend in his market garden, have become our traditional start into our tinplate year. It is our opportunity to test-run our new locos, enjoy what the others take along, and simply talk steam. The Greenhouse Days are one of my favourite events.
In 2017, the Greenhouse Days took place from January 06 - 08.
Enjoy watching clockwork and live steam trains by Basset-Lowke, Bing, Karl Bub, Carette, Märklin and Schoenner/Falk run!

I’d love to find a live steam locomotive to run on American Lionel type tinplate track but I’ve read that the steam exhaust would eventually be a detriment to the track unless I used Gargraves stainless steel track.

The steam exhaust is no problem at all - even if your track isn't stainless like our vintage tinplate track. At the end of the meeting we wipe the track dry and clean with an old cloth and that's it. Also heat is no problem - meanwhile I have run several 2m gas-fired locomotives on LGB track with plastic sleepers. Hardly any heat is reflected downward from the locomotives. But I wouldn't know of any live steam locos in Standard Gauge...

SUPER schön! Herzlichen Dank für's Teilen / Hochladen! Ich sage immer: Das ist meditativ, den Zügen (hier sogar schöner Echtdampf, oder Uhrwerkmotor!) zuzuschauen. Mein Lebenstraum ist es mir - selbst - eine englische Dampflok in Spur 0 - zu bauen -. Allerdings mit Kohlenfeuer und einer besseren Steuerung (Lok und Gleisseitig). Auch gerne mit echtem Tachometer usw. Als Uhrmacher ist das möglich xD soetwas zu bauen. Auch eher im Tinplate Scale. Ich "hasse" Nietenzähler... :) Klar, paar Details sind nett, aber keine 1:45 Megaperfektion. Vielleicht etwas genauer gebaut, als klassischer Tinplate "Scale". Geht sowieso nicht auf, da die Atome die gleiche Größe behalten. Das macht sich dann an Rauchrohren, Wasserstandsgläsern usw. sehr bemerkbar. Auch finde ich, dass es wortwörtlich - Spielzeuge - (für Erwachsene ~große Kinder xD ) sein dürfen!! Kleine Anregung: Ich bin überzeugter BODEN-Anlagenbauer - was auch super schön ist, auf englisch (wie putting green mit Spindelmäher evtl. ATCO) geschnittenem Rasen mit den schönen Blechschienen eine Strecke aufbauen. Aber klar, diese Tische haben natürlich Platz und die richtige Rückenhöhe xD. Herzliche Grüße! Gereon

Die alten Spiritusloks sind nicht so leistungsfähig; sie mögen eine absolut ebene Strecke. Da bietet sich eine Anlage auf Tischen einfach an. Und Betrieb im Freien ist auch kritisch, da der Wind die Flamme unterm Kessel wegblasen könnte. Aber eine kohlengefeuerte Lok nach britischem Vorbild in Spur 0 - das klingt extrem spannend!
