I'm the same age as you and I'm good with these rankings. I'm always surprised when Vengeance is not the unanimous #1. It's nice to see 'Point of Entry' get a good rank as this album always seems to get dumped on in these videos. I'd rank 'Painkiller' much lower and 'Turbo' a bit higher, but otherwise ---- bang on.

Good video. I appreciate the insight into some of the albums that I either haven't heard or don't know as well. I would put Firepower much higher though. If they had removed the four or five songs on that album that are merely good, they could have had an album of about eight or ten perfect songs. The first six songs on that album are among the greatest that Priest ever recorded.

Speaking as a humble Geordie bloke who first saw The Metal Gods in 1980 at Newcastle City Hall in the UK, (15 AT THE TIME!) I find it kind of depends on the time/album that got you into the band. For me it was Killing Machine as an impressionable 15 year old, it knocked me for six! 'Delivering The Goods', 'Burnin' Up' and the classic ballad Before The Dawn (get a load of that solo man!) I quickly purchased Stained Class next, followed by Sad Wings of Destiny, an out and out Priest classic, and Sin After Sin. 'Let Us Prey/Call For The Priest' being one of my faves and criminally underrated in my opinion. I disagree with your comment about the slower songs, I mean take 'Dreamer Deceiver/Deceiver' what a vocal performance by Halford. So, yeah, those aforementioned albums would make my top 5, and that's not disregarding the likes of British Steel or Screaming for Vengeance.

I think you’re right, a lot of people that are a bit younger than me maybe grew up with Painkiller as their first intro would pick that as their favorite. But we’re all Priest fans!

@@michaelhaughey8921 Exactly Michael! An album that i didn't mention is 'Point Of Entry' another of my favourites by the way. Some people only discover a band through the song/album that introduces them to what they do. For some that would be the last release 'Firepower', not a fave of mine at all. 'Screaming For Vengeance', another classic and yet it contains a track which i personally despise -'You've Got Another Thing Comin', and yet to many, especially in the States it was huge and will always be a song that they feel a need to play live. Wouldn't it be interesting to hear what the members of Priest consider to be THEIR top 5 albums?

I really enjoy how you don't totally bash the lesser records on your list, since that would've been picking easy points. But instead lifting up what's positive and mention songs yuu actually enjoy on those. That's a great attitude IMHO.I also love your insight comments on producers, drummers, song credits etc. Well, the thing with all the drummers is almost a joke today lol. I'm probably the only person in the world who fully enjoy Rocka Rolla (Even KK Downing himself mentioned in his biography how he and the rest of the band were unsatisfied with the production and the songs of their first record). The first two songs are lackluster, but Cheater and (one of my absolute favourite of Priest) Never Satisfied are favorurite songs I still enjoy today. The lyrics of Never Satisfied are still so damn good and timeless. Living After Midnight might feel quite like a pop-song for the metal gods, but it's fun as hell playing on the guitar, and way easier to learn than many other Priest songs. Defenders Of The Faith have some great songs, but I personally can't stop hearing the drums, which today sound like synthetic drum machines in my ears. Sorry lol. I still remember being 15 yo heading for the record store and (after listening with headphones like we did back then) buying Screaming For Vengeance. And of course it was on the record player 24/7 after that. Hence me not being surprised with your first choice. I actually expected that. Such a great classic. I hadn't heard new stuff from Priest for like decades, and was suprised by Firepower. A great return to form by Rob IMHO. Anyhows, great video, and keep up the good work.

I agree, it was good to see underrated albums like Point of Entry so high although a bit baffled at Rocka Rolla being so low. I used to have it down there myself, then gave it another shot and realized that many of those songs actually would've fit nicely on the much heavier Stained Class, really it's primarily the latter's way harder production that is the major difference there, song-wise as compositions I honestly find them quite similar in structure. Defenders of the Faith, I find a tad overrated it's not bad ("The Sentinel" is one of their best songs) but the production is lacking and most of the songs are a substantial downgrade from the mighty Screaming for Vengeance. Overall, my #1 is Sad Wings of Destiny.

1981 Point of Entry when it came out I picked it up, the day I got my drivers license. Heading out to the Highway got spun a lot, that intro and build up, at that time, yeah. British Steel had the most rockers on one LP of their entire catalog, was my last purchase. Never latched onto any of the hair metal bs in the 80's, too many acting like bitches wrecked it for me. So I rolled some punk and then early Mettalica turned on from a bootleg cassette by a friend. Was happy when Seattle broke the industry.

For me it's: 1) British Steel 2) Killing Machine 3) Defenders of the Faith 4) Stained Class 5) Sin after Sin 6) Point of Entry IMHO, the albums after British Steel had a tendency to be "overproduced" and too polished, why I didn't really like "Screaming..." that much. Also think Halford's "Resurrection" was arguably better than any Priest album.

Nostradamus is not only the worst Priest album but the worst album of all time. Prove me wrong! 😁 (Defenders, Screaming, Steel for me.) Wow.That wall is real. I bang my head off it everytime someone does a cliche' negative troll of our videos. It's the rest of the room that's fake. I had my mom crochet Mike out of some leftover yarn I had in the attic. I asked her to make him look like Lemmy, but . . . eh, her eyes are going, so what am I gonna do.
