Still cannot get over Jimmy proclaiming Bruce’s new solo is album of the year…when standing in front of this masterpiece. It’s night and day and Priest has released a firestorm that really sets massive standards in metal.

Escape from reality has a definite Ozzy sounding lines in it . And son of thunder sounds like manowar . And the ending scream of giants in the sky is exactly manowar. Rob must have listened to some manowar stuff !!!

Thank you for the review. I really went with the comment of one of the participants about let's save 10/10 for all times classics , that was a good point. Other than that , I think it's too early to make comment about this album because it is such a heavy and intricate record it needs at least years of listening and how everybody can digest it on their own experience. I ll get my copy. However, I am 100 percent positive that this is totally a satisfying record as Firepower was

Bonus tracks are often “love letters” to the REAL fans. In my opinion. So many great bonus tracks, on albums, from bands I love. I can’t even count them. So, yes, bonus tracks are there for a reason. Great panel!

They are available on the deluxe version of the CD as well. Availability will vary based on where you’re located, but Amazon is always a good bet.

What Perrin was saying about bonus tracks wasn't entirely accurate. He said records were so expensive in Japan you had to give them something extra. The problem was that USA imports were sold cheaper than domestic releases. So they would all buy the imports. They started demanding bonus tracks so the Japanese version had something more. And of course, when this all started you couldn't just look up the bonus track on KZfaq. I've never heard anyone explain why an import would cost less than one manufacture right there. But that's the story I've heard many times.

it's a "mixed bag" tbh(and I say that after 3rd listen)..... I think they made a mistake releasing so many songs..... if you get rid of those weak tracks("The Serpent and The King", "As God Is My Witness", "Escape From Reality") and replace them with first two bonus tracks from Deluxe Edition("Fight Of Your Life", "Vicious Circle"), then it would be pretty decent regular-length album..... but playlisting the album like this(both versions), makes you go through quite "extra fat"..... overall, it's still better effort than previous album, but unnecessarily long, with several boring tracks

I am surprised to see the love IS gets. There are very good songs, but also average to above average songs. I decided to listen to Firepower as well, an album I haven't listened to in 4 or 5 years. Now, this is the only JP album I have been listening to over the last week. It is much better than IS in my opinion.

Gates of hell is probably the best a solid album but I think the songs on firepower were maybe more memorable there are moments I'm kinda bored and want too skip the song

The four songs they released to me were not as good as the best nine songs on Firepower.They should have stopped after Firepower.That would have been a much better way to go out.The songs on this album are nowhere as good as the Firepower material.

I bought the album, of course. Unfortunately, I find it just generic, stock, paint-by-numbers metal. It's like cliched Priest at their most uncatchy. I hate saying that and am still spinning it but I can't hear anything remotely like the best of their catalog. I was sitting there listening and comparing to even the lesser tracks from the 80s and the new ones don't stand up. Halford sounds really good and the production sounds ok. It sounds like they weren't ever in the same room together then tried to glue it together in the mix.
