i think this world exemplified the problem with EA builds they never figured out how to solve: when a house is small, they know what to put, they know how much space is needed to avoid routing issues and they can control the style and palette. The moment a house is just ever so slightly bigger, hallways, bedrooms, bathrooms and so on become HUGE and completely empty, like they ran out of things to put in. In Hidden Springs, cabins are gorgeous if only a bit simplistic, but overall coherent, where the mansions have like half of their interior space be completely wasted and empty.
@Rekowcski

I think you are absolutely right, once the house gets too big they decide to make a 4x10 hallway or something else bulky that ends up being to big, open and empty :(

I feel like that applies to real life too lmao. I watch a lot of luxury house tours, and owners and architects just put the weirdest details, or theres so much space that no one knows what to do with it

That reminds me, does Sims 3 has option to rent free beds to other sims? Like in Sims 4. It was almost a decade i played 3. So, that way we could split big rooms for renters, and maybe leave common rooms as hub for everyone. A few years ago i saw custom apartment builds for Late Night, this way main family can just have blacked out renter space without scaling whole building down. Anyway, for me any lot bigger than 40x40 is a curse😢

I heard that EA staff are not allowed to build houses with cheats on. No moveobject, or turning off constrainfloor, and no official house with buydebug items either. The problem with filling in big rooms can be solved by putting a coffee table behind every other big furniture so the beds, sofas, stereo, sport equipments, etc don't have to be pushed to the walls. I also like stacking wall shelves on top of one another and fill them with plants, plates, whatever, something the Sims team are also maybe not allowed to do.

You should do like another series where you go back to these worlds and spend a max of 10-15 minutes per lot fixing some of the most egregious errors. Could even be in streams. I think it’d be pretty cool.

I remember when The Sims Daily site was up and running and all of us members decided to renovate this world. I think we finished over 30 lots - mostly community - before we lost interest. Some were really beautiful. Don't think any of us got around to tackling that royal residence, although I did build an old castle up on one of the mountains. (It was supposed to be the royal family's ancestral home that they were booted out of during some war). We styled our builds on what you'd expect to see in an Alpine world, since most of us thought it was what EA had been going for.

Style Center is the 1 house where I was impressed by how much effort was made and I use this house in several different worlds when I need something for a creative sim, I do tweak it a bit. But someone really tried and it shows. Hope you are doing well with your recent loss. 😊

I have not played with Hidden Springs too much, and I too was a bit offput with the misaligned roofing. As for the the brown tops to the white, or off white bottoms with the high angled roofing, I think their idea was to go with a Swiss Chalet (or ski logde vibe). I do like that style, but I agree, they need to narrow their angles, especially when making their build 3 stories (even when the 3rd floor is just a makeshift illusionary floor, for outer aesthetics only. Overall, Hidden Springs is filled with Lore (I am all about that), and with a few tweaks here amd there, I think this world could be superb. Have you seen any of the remakes of the worlds from the exchange? Some of them are truly breathtaking❣
@Rekowcski
@Rekowcski 11 ай бұрын
I haven't downloaded any remodels off the exchange yet, but I know hidden springs is popular with simmers. You're right about the lore, lots of little cool things that you don't always notice, but for me I love the venderbergs being the royal family haha

I think that changing height of the roof came later in game. Not sure, but separate height for each roof piece was definietly in later update, near 3 or 4th expansion packs, from what I recall. That's why the roofs might be so massive in this world. It was second one in the store, just after Barnacle Bay.

I have had this thought for a long time (I am no builder and hate CAS too) anyhow. I don't think that the EA builds were designed to look "good" for visiting, and just manageable until the player decides to do them up if/when they play in them. Like the dining table etc might just be placeholders and for use if the player decides to visit that families home.
@Rekowcski
@Rekowcski Жыл бұрын
I think you're right. The starter homes are definitely ugly on purpose, in ever game. It makes you NEED to build. But the townie houses? I think they should be good ok their own... And SOMETIMES EA can do it lol

I hope y'all realize that EA isn't making bad builds on accident and instead doing them on purpose. If they made them grand and glamorous you wouldn't have any initiative to renovate them and make them better through out your playthrough. EA is not dumb and knows how to suck people in to make people put more time and effort into again renovating their builds. It sure is a trick though lol
