Well...no fairytale here- Lezhneva is a rare talent, a hard working musician and, to be honest, quite fearless with how she performed and performs under the most difficult situations (especially competitions). so a fairytale it is definitely not. She was always a princess in training to become a queen.

You can tell that she is Russian when she says words like "how" and "helped." Also, the hard l's in words like "careful." Those suggest that she's neither Ukrainian nor Polish. But she speaks English much more fluently than most of us speak Russian. And she's still only 23.

I would say (I do speak Russian among other languages), her pronunciation is almost not distinctly Russian at all, although a tad of [West-]Slavic accent is quite noticeable. But broadly speaking, she could be mistaken, judging by her pronunciation, for a representative of any of the European nations. That's something you don't come across very often in Russians. She also appears too civilised to be mistaken for a [post-]Soviet Russian. ;-)
