Update It’s a ellisonic in a p90 case………….That p90 in there is close to the ellisonics sound. But the real secret sauce is the shin-ei B1g one boost. I have one and it really sweetens up whatever you plug into it. I think the Tele has way more sentimental value to him which is maybe why he’s using it as a first guitar.

@@MatthewSwasta yeah it’s overpriced …but if Julian thinks it’s good than there must be something in that pedal that the other cheaper clean boosts don’t have.

agreed! if we can afford it, I'm all for the good stuff. However, that can be subjective, even Julian's choices. I really like my Benson Germanium Boost, which is a whopping $200. Many would scoff at that for the price of a boost and I might agree with them as well...☺

Here’s his most recent use of the Collings kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mMmqhN2L063Xdqc.html I believe the last 2 albums are done with the Collings and before that the duojet… if someone’s reading this and knows more please correct me. It’s strange to not use a guitar built for you. The p90 in the nacho is hum canceling whereas the Collings is not in the neck pickup. My guess it’s just quieter.

I know this is an old comment, but you still might be curious. I saw him live last month and during a Q&A before the show he said his tele pickup is the same Ron Ellis pup that's on the Collings, just in a P90 case, so the tone stays pretty consistent. The Collings is a shorter scale than the tele though.

It used to be the Fralin, but now its a Ron Ellis ESP90 (a slightly modified Ellisonic in a P90 housing). I think this video is probably the Ellisonic, but not sure

I could be wrong but in a group interview with Audeze (check out their YT channel) he mentions the Collings being noisier in certain spaces in the neck pickup. I dunno maybe that’s why the nachocaster get first dibs

No looper in sight…. But he did use an unknown pedal to angle his amp😂. It’s part of the “tone”

@@thesonofavich We're talking about the same thing: that's a TC Electronic Ditto Looper tilting the amp. Robert Keeley said in an interview a few years back that Julian would record a loop during soundcheck, then walk out to where the audience would be later in the evening to hear himself.

It was replaced for sure….the pick guard screws are brand new compared to everything else.

@@thesonofavich I'm pretty certain that's a different Nachocaster. I believe Julian and Margaret have a few of Nacho's guitars.

@@thesonofavich Yes. Julian has 3 Nacho guitars. His original blackguard, the P90 blackguard in this video and a 60's Nacho with a rosewood board. Margaret has a Nacho-Strat.

Julian did a Premier Guitar rig overview a couple days ago where he revealed he actually put an Ellisonic into a p90 casing on his nachocaster.

I thought he still had the Fralin in there too

@@thesonofavich You are correct! I just watched that Rig Rundown and Julian does say the neck pickup is an Ellisonic in a P90 casing. I guess it's actually the same pickup as the Collings, but it sure seems a bit "fatter" in the tele. But boy that '55 Les Paul with P90's, that Christopher Guest gave him, sounds incredible!

The Nachocaster with the P-90 neck pickup is relatively recent. He's been leaving the signature Collings (Gretsch DuoJet clone) home on tour because the Nachocaster's bolt-on neck makes air travel easier.
