Losing one's voice range when becoming an adult is normal. But I have to say her natural voice is so pleasant on the ears. It's like listening a beautiful soft music.

Actually I have watched current interviews and people are so in awe of her they can't even talk, some even started crying with emotions. Her presence is such that of a lady ( profanities asides😁) that nobody would dare disrespect her. The world adores Julie.

Thank you for Posting. I am reading her new book and it is very special and you should all read it. I think Julie Andrews is magic and as such can only be in magical performances. So sorry she was not in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang too! My kids both have special needs and listen to Mary Poppins and SOM over and over. They dance, sing and act out as much as they are able. They actually are following in their dads footsteps. HA!

I understand Julie wrote stories for Emma, so I imagine Jennifer wished her stepmother to write a story for her as well. Those details are so important (and unforgettable) to a child.

According to this interview, her voice was no longer four octaves by the time she was 17 years old. Usually when people talk about her range, they just say that "she had four octaves", as if that's what she had throughout her career or in the prime of her career. Nice to hear the truth.
@Shamsithaca

If you haven’t seen her, at age 12 or so, singing “GOD SAVE THE KING” to King George VI check it out on KZfaq. She was so amazing. Ever since she lost her singing voice I have such a feeling of sadness as I watch her in movies, old TV shows, or listen to cast albums. I can’t imagine her devastation.

Poor Julie.. her childhood is actually mostly quite sad.
@Sofia-nc1tu
@Sofia-nc1tu 4 жыл бұрын
Really it isn’t very nice to assume that someone had a sad childhood. Especially if you don’t know them. Perhaps it _seems_ sad-but it doesn’t mean it was _that_ way.
@joyk2327
@joyk2327 3 жыл бұрын
@@Sofia-nc1tu Well, Julie has ever said that she was a very sad girl. The thing about Julie is that she doesn't like to be pitied. She doesn't like pity. Even her two husbands have talked about this. Tony said that the situation at Julie's house was horrible but instead she wrote things like "my magical family" in her diary. Blake also said that she had a lot of depressive memories, but that she handled that by taking care of everyone: him, kids, family, friends, crew, everyone. She herself has admitted that one of the reasons she went to therapy was to get rid of all the garbage she had in her head since childhood. So, I think she had a sad childhood, beyond what she is willing to admit. Not even in her books. But the expression "poor Julie" is definitely not one that she would like.

have nothing against the other celebs that were on this show but is this channel ever going to show the Dick Cavett shows where he interviews Jackie Gleason or Art Carney? How about any Honeymooners actors that were part of the main cast? These are rarities much like the other videos around here.

@@cockula776 He was born Crump, but his legal last name was McEdwards, by adoption from his stepfather. Not even his children are Crump. Just as Julie's mother changed her last name when she was a little girl. From Wells to Andrews. So legally, she is Julia Andrews, even though she was born as Julia Wells... I think she could have used "Julie Wells" too, and honor her dad.

Warner Bris paid $5 million to film My Fair Lady abd on top of the $5 million there was an equal amount filming the picture on the Warner lot in Burbank J l Warner wanted Cary Grant and James Cagney to star. Had they Warner May have gone with Julie Andrews. Instead with Rex Harrison WB to star they studio needed a box office star and Audrey Hepburn was a great Eliza.
