About Julien Baker:
A Memphis, Tennessee-based singer/songwriter with a knack for finding the shaky ground between heart-wrenching and cathartic, Julien Baker's stark and soulful music invokes names like Bon Iver, Daughter, Birdy, and Natalie Prass. Baker honed her skills while playing in her high school band Forrister, with whom she continued to perform while attending college. After writing a batch of songs that didn't seem to fit the band's more rock-oriented vibe, Baker headed to Matthew E. White's Spacebomb Studios in Richmond, Virginia to begin recording what would eventually become her solo debut, 2015's critically acclaimed, 6131 Records-issued Sprained Ankle.

The mixing Audio Engineer for this session was Dylan Alldredge (His studio is Skinny Elephant, it's in Nashville, and more can be learned about his services at www.skinnyelephantrecording.co...) Use him for your audio needs, he's damn fantastic at what he does!
Lyrics:
I know you're sleeping by now
I'm still up walking around
The walls of my skull bend backwards
And in like a labyrinth
I knew I was wasting my time
Keep myself awake at night
Whenever I close my eyes
I'm chasing your tail lights
In the dark
In the dark
In the dark
I know you left hours ago
I still haven't moved yet
I knew you were gone months ago
But I can't think of anyone else
I should've said something, something, something
I couldn't find something to say
So I just said nothing, nothing, nothing
Sat and watched you drive away
I just let the parking lot swallow me up
Choking your tires and kicking up dust
Asking aloud why you leavin?
But the pavement won't answer me
I just let the silence swallow me up
The ring in my ears tastes like blood
Asking aloud, "Why you leavin'?"
But the pavement won't answer me
I know I meant nothing, nothing to you
I thought I meant something, something, something
But I just said nothing, said nothing, said nothing
Sat and watched you drive away
I just said nothing, said nothing, said nothing
I can't think of anyone, anyone else
I can't think of anyone, anyone else
I can't think of anyone, anyone else
I won't think of anyone else

I found this video from my recommended section on some random 2:00 AM in 2016. I was wasted as hell off a break up and this performance destroyed me. I watched it four, maybe five times in a row. I've now seen Julien Baker live twice (and both shows were incredible) and moved on from those dark days, but I'll always be thankful that I ended up on this channel on that night to discover this amazing artist. Thanks for the incredible live audio quality and video production for this song :).

So poetic. So Beautiful. This song invades your Soul, and it doesn't just tug the Heartstrings, the thing you're missing chokes you with them. It's that moment, where the Earth moves, but you stay silent, and your body reverberates with the deep loss of someone who was once so deep inside of you. An ending.

Not only does she have a wonderful voice and not only is this video spectacular, but this song is unbelievable! It's so well written and hits on that mixed feeling of wistfulness and sadness and hope, all rolled into one. Hats off indeed!

i try to only listen to this song when i'm driving alone late at night because i can't help but scream it out. i feel this deeper in me than even i can grasp and it's worth all the throat pain in the world to have this song because after i scream it out i can't quantify how much better i feel. thank you for this song and all of the others, julien baker. i appreciate them and you more than you know
