Also, when you let go of self-consciousness and anxiety many of these things flow naturally. I was a very boring story teller until I had a breakthrough while teaching yoga... I just stopped caring if people liked my class. So of course everyone started coming to tell me how amazing my classes were. And I took this into conversations... no longer caring if they liked what I was saying or worrying if I look weird, am boring, etc... and with that level of anxiety washed away my facial expressions grew, my body was no longer stationary, my tonality increased substantially, emotions began entering communication... I was no longer just trying to get through it and became involved in telling the story or just talking in general. Letting go is way more important than learning strategies.

Great to hear! I’m just in the process where interactions go more naturally, it’s only when I look back I realize how smooth it went and how pleased I am becoming with myself
@nickp3949
@nickp3949 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah but how do you do that if the anxiety is so built in to you? I know the state you’re talking bout, I’ve gotten there multiple times before, but it goes away the next day and I ant control it. It’s like one day I’m perfectly in state not caring what anyone else thinks, making everyone laugh, flirting perfectly, etc…and the next day every single conversation feels scary and oppressive. It all depends on how I feel from day to day. It’s a feeling. As of yet I have not found a way to make it consistent. I have 90% anxious days and 10% of days I can kill it socially.
@buildyourownhuman
@buildyourownhuman 2 жыл бұрын
@@nickp3949 energies shift day to day. The biggest practice for me is accepting some days are going to be shit... and not letting it get me down so much. Sitting with the anxiety is paramount... feeling it without resistance, accepting it and appreciating that it was created to keep me safe... fighting against it is pointless, it's like trying to pretend a wall isn't in front of you. It's just reality in the moment and rejecting it can make it stronger (imagine the wall, and just endlessly walking into it). So feel it and then question it. Why is it there? What is it serving? Is it still usefull? The challenge is to do this without judgement. Without reacting to the answers emotionally. On an energetic level we can focus our awareness on the sensations in the body. Tightness, tension, pressure, heat, etc... and breathe into them and allow them to flow and release... then expand awareness 1m out and continue the same thing. The best time to do that is in the moment, and it's super uncomfortable, but actually most people don't really care... if you say "I need a few minutes to connect with myself" in the middle of a conversation it feels weird, but you'll be surprised how many people will actually appreciate it.

Just seen your content first time, I like it ! I thought this was PUA content at first but it seems more for being just socially adept or helping with social anxiety and improving self esteem, which I love ! Usually just see content like this for girls but honestly I love how universal your style is, could be for any type of conversation, co-worker, or want to be more social to make friends..initiate convos for a study group in college..etc! Not just for talking to girls and I love that thats not the focus lol, bc these tools are universal for any human interactions

In my humble observation it seems like those viewed as magnetic or charming emanate an aura I guess described by words like presence, awareness and purpose. They never look detached from the scene or to be daydreaming/losing track of the basic energy in the room and flowing in step. Maybe it's an obvious but neglected point to simply pay attention to better process what's coming at you and stay flexible. Feels as if inspiration comes easier during those brief flashes of calm focus where the mind is free to express its ongoing stream of consciousness without the social filters and restrictions we apply constantly.

S'more dope shit Julien! My biggest takeaway is how important it is to practice at home! I just got done recording my first podcast and it was actually really fun and is already making an impact on me. I've never even thought about posting a video on here before but I think I'm gonna throw it up on my channel and if you want to look at a few minutes of it that'd be dope but if not no biggie. I applied for a free coaching sesh and wanted to show my commitment as much as possible and couldn't think of a better way. When I recorded this I didn't think I was gonna post it so some of it is pretending like I have fans who watch it but who cares it was fun 🤣😂

Julien, I've been watching your seminars for a while and I have a question I couldn't find an answer. Sometimes you say that if you believe you have a fear for example, and you're in the "now what state?" everything you do, such as looking up techniques and such, reinforces that you are in that state, instead of "what's the reason I am afraid?". However, if someone is following your advice, how is it that not reinforcing that they're in a state of fear [or other negative state]. IF you consider yourself that you are not confident or scared, and IF you are looking for ways to get out of this, that's reinforcing that you are not starting in a place where you're confident or not scared. How is following your advice not reinforcing that the person is not confident to begin with, for example. Also smth else I haven't seen this covered in any seminar so far: how does physiology play into all of this? I've been following your advice and worked on myself a LOT, and I am way more happier now and I've got core confidence, but whenever I am in a low state, in terms of physiology [like if I'm really tired, if I have a fever, if I am really hungry], I still return to my previous negative state, maybe not to the full intensity as before, but still feeling things that are NOT in accord with reality. Is it even possible in those hungry/tired/sick cases to still be congruent and let go of the cause of me being triggered?
@eros8385
@eros8385 8 ай бұрын
I had a similar thought in where if my actions are that of an insecure person and I am actively seeking ways to improve confidence then I am just reinforcing that I am insecure. Julien brought up a similar example in another speech where cool people don’t spend time and effort trying to be cool, they just are. These examples are meant to get you out of state of need and consumption. once you identify that you are actually identifying as the thing you don’t want to be, you can let go of that and make space to be anything. this means also letting go of control because you can’t control others and the outcome but you learn to have self mastery. also, people are never just one thing. You don’t level up and stay at that level. If you get sick and return to a low state, maybe let go of that defining you…you will always have the blue print to get back to the higher level you were at before.

This "composure" that we develop seems to come and stifle us as we get older, as many people think it's an improvement or a sign of maturity. That emotional nothingness is "safe". People can make fun of you for laughing, or ridicule you for losing your temper, or punish you for being loud when you're happy, or call you a (insert insult) for being sad. Our emotions come with a certain level of vulnerability, so we retreat to nothingness in order to be safe. This is a big reason why stoicism is on such a pedestal in a few niches btw. True strength doesn't come from being invulnerable. It comes from the level of acceptance you have with your vulnerabilities. It's uncomfortable for many of us to know we're flawed and can be made fun of. Your power isn't in becoming someone that people can't make fun of. That's resistance, that approach is the exact opposite of empowering. Your power will be in acceptance; in letting go of the struggle and allowing yourself to be heard, to be seen, to be praised, to be condemned, to live. That's why it's so hard. Fighting comes natural, but the answer here... is surrender. Letting go.

@@razorboii864 thanks! 🙌🏾 I make my own content that you may like, but as far as influences that speak on similar things... Jeff Foster is phenomenal, Ed Mylett is life-changing (he's more practical/productivity based with his worldview) and I liked the book "Untethered Soul" by Michael Singer. The content is great but metabolizing it to the point of embodying the lessons takes time. It's almost like your mind has to settle into the ideas. I say that to mean, don't be so hard on yourself if you're devouring all this stuff and nothing seems to be changing (in the short-term anyway).

I'm struggling especially with blushing in social situations (29 year old guy). I started experiencing this when I was around 15 years old. How do I overcome this? Watching your videos I believe I must get to the root of this, which is hidden in my subconscious to then let go of it. But how do I do this? I don't think ill be able to learn or manage any of this socializing well ever... but I'm ok with that. I'm aspergic and this is like trying to play piano but being deaf. I might be able to learn some chords or scales but I won't really understand how it actually sounds to others or how to combine elements or the nuances that will make it feel natural. To be socially affluent would be like a jazz pianist improvising. I just feel like no matter how hard I work at it I am just missing a piece somewhere. And its like looking at the other side of a deep river but not being able to swim a cross. Man it kinda sucks sometimes because I wanna too be the life of the party but atleast I can do it with music.

Takeaways: 1. The eyes are important, so is your facial expression. "Are you expressing, or are you stifled when showing emotions?". Practice emotions at home! Stretch the face, record yourself after, and see if you got better by getting back to your recorded videos once in a while (analyze after!) 2. Not talking doesn't mean disengaging and being in your head, you should be talking even though you are not talking by showing facial expressions of some sort. 3. You'll never run out of things to say once you master the things seen in this video, because it doesn't matter what you say! It's what you communicate (subconsciously)

Your daughter stunting on full grown adults at embracing expression has provided you with endless teaching material, a tune by the name of 'Wheels on The Bus' comes to mind 😂 Funny enough you learn loads about yourself just watching them go effortlessly through experiences that the average adult hides from their entire life

I've been coaching people since 2010... And people needed this before the rise of social media as well. However, it definitely HAS made things worse, sadly.
