Possible piece of advice for Julien in the future, if he ever tries this exercise again with someone who you can tell (as good as his English is) there first language isn’t English, is have the person go all out in their native tongue. Something I picked up while studying at Stella Adler in the past as an actor, is that a lot of the foreign students always initially had difficulty “going all out” in scenes due to the English as a second language barrier. Speaking to one girl from Thailand, she told she had to take like brief moments to think if she’s saying the word and phrasing, which would naturally put the speaker/person in their head. But as soon as the teachers told them, act out the scene in their native tongue, you immediately saw such intense/vulnerable/enticing ranges in their facial expressions/tone of voice/nonverbal body language that you immediately became captivated by the scene. So if you’re reading this Julien maybe give that a shot in the future; keep up the good work 👍🏼

i have trouble sometimes saying my thoughts smoothly without messing up 😂 i feel like i have a slight speech impedement. what do you suggest for that? like i can have a long thought out thing to say and i lose focus while trying to say the whole thing 🤣

Practice, that's it. Tons of speaking listening reading writing. Use tools like podcasts, diary, books, conversations, giving speeches. But more importantly don't attach your self worth to your communication ability, it's not about what you SAY, it's about where you are coming from. Julien had a video on layers of communication, go watch it.

Try adding pauses/talking slower. Dont add pauses for effect, but do so..so you can give your brain some time to articulate what youre trying to say. Let your thoughts catch up with your mouth so you dont stumble around your words. I guarantee that you speak quickly or with urgency to finish what you have to say. Slow it down.

Julien just an idea, after that man was clearly hitting a wall not being able to genuinely express himself and his passions.. you should have a hooded cloak to put them in and have them speak as if it were to their children who are in the same position he is.. lost without direction as if he died and were a ghost and this was his one opportunity to give them advice on how to live their lives. Set a physical timer so they can see their time counting down.

It's not about Shakespeare at all, look and listen closely. The guy has been acting for so long that he has forgotten who he truely is. In order to reach authenticity, You have to traumatize the Façade because it will be backed into a corner and will eventually surrender to who you really are. If you are allowed to "feel", you will progress. Being numb to yourself and the world is not fun. The little voice in the head is everyone else trying to shape you. It stops you from being real and able to feel. We are all so sensitive to true authenticity. That's how we can tell if someone is bulS@##ting or not. I always like to think, the head is the conscious mind and the body is the sub-conscious mind. The head "thinks" and the body "feels". Like the head can control the body, so too can the body control the head. If you free the sub-conscious mind and allow it to really "feel", your potential will increase so much because you will be able to properly use the powerful computer that is the mind. I'd like to think that Julienhimself actually helped this guy in a massive way.
