First heard June with the Stan Kenton Orchestra. Loved her (and her voice!) then and now, aged 87, still do. Please keep listening and keep her alive. I have a Memoir cd titled Tampico which is played regularly. Thank you fans. March, 2023.

My favorite female singer ... since I was 11 years old, and heard her on the radio singing "Across The Alley From The Alamo." That was 1947.

JUne's amazing. Her talent lives on in the hearts of those who know perfection in music. No one sings with her soul the way she does.

What a classy pro. That voice is so expressive. And to see her perform flawlessly live is an incredibly captivating experience. I am SOOOOO glad she left a fine legacy of recordings that we all can continue to cherish and enjoy!!!

You always waited to hear how Christy ended a song. She always gave it a unique tag.

This was produced for Louis D. Snader's "TeleScriptions" series of musical shorts for television in 1950. The Ernie Felice Quartet accompanies June. They filmed five songs for Snader.

Incomparable. Too sad that poor June did not care for her health sufficiently.

You've never heard Billie Holiday sing it?

Does anyone know who the pianist was? Some one once said it was Pete Jolly, but Jolly was born in 1932 and if this recording is from 1950, this pianist does not appear to be 18.

Irritating how often piano accompanists went uncredited. Jimmy Lyon, who had the trio at The Blue Angel for years (with Jimmy Raney/Joe Puma on guitar and Bev Peer on bass, toured with June Christy for years, and loved playing for her. He was Mabel Mercer's last accompanist, and used to say, "Mabel has big ears. June had big ears. They hear it."
