However, their task was made easier with the unexpected assistance of Jung Bahadur, a staunch ally of the British Empire. His timely support proved instrumental in the British effort to quell the uprising and retain control over India.
Yet, the extent of Jung Bahadur's involvement goes beyond mere assistance. In a controversial move, he and his troops were granted a free license to raid and plunder the city of Lucknow, resulting in what came to be known as the "Lucknow Loot." This event not only saw the acquisition of vast riches but also witnessed horrifying atrocities committed by Jung Bahadur's forces.
