A guitar lesson for the song Meet Me In The City by Junior Kimbrough.
This is a great Hill Country Blues song to practice monotonic bass patterns.

Dude I had been trying to make sense of tabs to the black keys cover of this song FOREVER. the “answer” part and rhythm stumped me. I have made more progress in nailing this rewatching your video for an hour than I have in MONTHS by myself. Thank you. Now I can actually see myself covering it start to finish

The thing about this kind of music is that if the thumb is not thinking for itself, it hard as heck to play. I tried this lesson and got frustrated. After a couple months of working on the thumb it's much easier. There's some good thumb exercises on this channel and others that I'd make a priority.

I quit smoking cigarettes a few months ago and I did it by the Willie Nelson method. I pretty much just smoke crazy amounts of weed and barely put down my guitar. Crazy to say, but this is the most complex thing I've tried to learn, and after a couple days of practice I've got this intro down mostly mistake free. Gotta say, these videos are magnificent. I don't know why they don't have millions of views. This Hill Country stuff is so badass, and Junior did it so casually like blues was just an instinct, a part of him, like blues was just another bone in his body. I've always been fascinated by musicians like him, and I can't believe I'm just leaning about the Hill Country style now, but I can't wait to dive into more. Thank you so much for these videos.

What a great track. Listened to blues all my life and the hill country stuff has become an addiction. Its so fun to play. Only thing similar I used to listen to was John Lee hooker with his one chord boogie. Thanks for the in depth lesson. I've lost the track structure after half a minute when I play it but still end up playing it forever anyway. Most jammable style ever!

Dude, thank you for your lessons. I've been obsessed with this song, got the covid a month ago and basically played my way through it. I have never seen such clear and easy to follow lessons for this style of music. Been having tons of fun. Keep up the good work, greetings from Finland.

I’m new here and new to tab and playing other players songs. Could you please put the tuning as the very first bit of information? It would help so much. I’ve watched a lot of your videos and I’m guessing that if you don’t specifically say that it’s open G or D that it’s standard, but an affirmation of this would be really helpful to us newbs. Thanks a lot.

Such a great lesson, thank you! Question....it sounds the same and seems easier, can you do the intro starting on the B string of the 7th fret and then the 5th, and going from there? I'm a serious amateur so prob a silly question but wanted to check. Thanks!

Yea anytime you find an easier way its usually okay! But you should still work on getting the "long A" chord since itll come up again in similar songs. But its okay to change it to make it easier for now. Thanks for watching and commenting!
