GT3 de-tuned NA engine is highly unlikely due to the cost and marketing reasons. Just my 2 cents.

Might want to check your facts on the targa not making an appearance until the 993 model. All through the 80’s and 90’s they made tons of targa’s with the 3.2 Carrera and 964.

The targa was never meant to be the ultimate track weapon so the added weight of the hybrid system shouldn’t be too much of an issue. Hopefully the perfect car for cruising round the Alps.

As to why the Targa is only available as an all-wheel-drive car, I read it is due to the need of the 'wide body' to accommodate the storage of the top, and as all-wheel-drive also needs the 'wide body', all-wheel-drive is standard in the Targa...along with the extra price!

At 3:40 you have boost pressure above oil pressure! So it is not Na, is turbocharged!

2:28 pretty sure these are outlets and not inlets as they would be sitting in the shadow of the air flow from the front And 4:44 looks much more like a Sport Design package rather than a Targa specific design element since Porsche has always deleted the active flaps at the front in recent years for the Sport Design package

💯 the 992.2 Carrera and S will have a turbo motor, the other speculation is will it have a hybrid turbo motor.

the turbo mule was also missing the rear radiator in the bumper. I think Porsche has just radically redesigned the system

I think you are wrong with Porsche stopping the Targa in the 1980s and bringing it back with the 993 in 1995. Every Gen F, G, 964, 993, 996...had its Targa Model. Only the 993 and 996 had the strange sliding roof and not the destinct Targa Form.

I have heard from a Porsche Dealer here in Germany, that the 992.2 will keep the analog tachometer.

I really would love to see an NA and rear drive 911 GTS! I have not bought any new 911's because I just dislike the current feel/drive of the current 911's. Ok, the Full TT 911 is a different wonderful animal. As I was looking at getting on the list for a GT3 touring(or a 1-2 year old) as my daily run around but preferred a base 911 GTS as it is a just a normal 911. Please, Please Porsche put an NA back in the Targa! Plus give us the choice of rear wheel drive Only!

1980 and a few years later ? There was a 1989 targa so it was more like a decade later !

It’s already known that 2024 are still 992.1 you can configure one now. So this definitely isn’t a 2024 model.

I think they should go for hardtop Targa, and not that rag top Targa. little more effort into engineering, and it should be possible.

the 3.0 turbo is more desirable, because it can easily be tunned and the turbos upgraded to make a lot more power... u can mod a 3.0 to 600+HP no problem... and i dont like that they took away the analog Tach... honestly, you'd be better off buying a 2018 991.2 for less money and either keep it stock or do a software tune or even swap in bigger turbos

I highly doubt Porsche would put the 4.0 in the 911. If they did, it would bottleneck the cayman gts 4.0 and the GT variants as they don’t have the supply needed to fill out the demand for a 911s or gts.

IMO, it won't be a good thing if the base engine in the 911 992.2 is derived from that in the current 718 GT4/GTS 4.0, as it's less characterful than the current 3.0 turbo engines. If it's a detuned GT3 engine that would be fantastic, but unlikely as many are buying the GT3 for the engine alone, how it sounds and its 9,000 rpm redline. So, even if the redline were reduced to say, 8,000 rpm, many people would choose that and the softer base/S set-up over a GT3, and that would undermine GT3 sales and its unique selling point. However, maybe the GTS could get a detuned GT3 engine, so positioning it as a baby GT3 and a true GT product rather than a harder, uprated S. Then again, that would be unique to the 911 line-up, as otherwise GTS essentially means harder, uprated S, with an included discounted options package. It would make more sense, to me, if the GT3 Touring had a road suspension set-up distinct from the GT3. So, you choose the GT3 with wing for a car that's setup for the track that's road-legal, and you choose the GT3 Touring for a car that has a suspension setup for road use with the equivaleent of Ferrari's bumpy road mode. That would give the two GT3 variants their own USPs, rather than simply with/without wing, also allowing the wing to be optioned on a Touring build.
