Welp , personally I'll take any content you guys put out . It is so refreshing to watch videos on a regular basis that is not propaganda and false information hate and division . I find it these videos are very entertaining and informative and crafted in a way that makes it comfortable for people to watch the entertain and learn something . Pete every one of your guys' videos has been spot on . There is definitely a reason why you have the number of subscribers that you have it's such a short I'm out of time also I might add . I love the mechanical videos I love the animal farm videos I also .

Best channel on youtube! This is the one channel our entire family (teenagers included) will sit down and watch together knowing it's going to be informative, honest, entertaining content. We all got JAFAF mugs and gear for Christmas.

Hi Pete, I enjoy watching your videos. You show how a good farmer treats his livestock. Townies need to understand the difference between a pet and farm animals.

My granddad was a hog farmer. He was proud of his porkers. He also had a whole section under cultivation. He was busy. My dad said they ate about 5-6 small meals a day in the summer months. They worked long hours. They rested in the long cold winter in MN. None of my Dad's siblings farmed and the homestead was sold by 1968 after my grand parents died.

I would rather do it old school than new school. I like the fact that you can take your tractors down to nothing and fix the whole thing. That's how stuff used to be made, you take care of it, it takes care of you. Keep on keeping on

Absolutely correct on the efficiency/small farm conversation. I grew up on about 100 acres with cattle, hogs, sheep, chickens, turkeys, geese, guineas, ducks (not always all at the same time), pasture, hay fields, small grain fields. When my parents died none of us could afford to buy out the others - the land was bought up by the farm family up the road - who are a perfect representation of big ag, farming at least ten sections of land. It's been many years, and it still makes me sad.

a small tip that my uncle in Wyoming used while maintaining livestock in winter.... He carried a compressed air tank with the proper fittings to hook to the hose after filling the watering troughs and blow out the water so he didn't have to fight the hose and drain the line every time. He was sometimes watering twice a day due to the coldness of the weather and some of the hoses were really long. He just had quick connects on the spigots and hoses and then the appropriate connector on the hose to the PSI tank to blow things out. but his hoses all led to a central spigot and had many pens to fill. Pigs, Heifers, Dogs, Chickens, etc.... I know you like efficiency so I thought you might like this tip. Love the videos and all the knowledge you provide. Thanks for all your hard work and entertainment.

Thanks Pete, I always enjoy the little sausages, they are a kick to watch. I haven't used chains on my tractors, I think my dad did, but I think it was sparingly. Back in the mid 60's we had a Farmall H and he would use it to do all his farm work. We had a 7 acre alfalfa field that I had my first real experience baling hay with. We also had a 10 acre, or so, field of corn, we used a two row corn picker on. We had pigs, chickens, horses and cows. Lots to do and get into. Oh, the good old days! I love the look of your pigs. They are nice and long in the body without being over done in leg height. I also love the various spotted colors on them. Honestly after watching your pigs and the proclivity of their mothers, I'd love to start with a few of your piglets on my homestead. They are just all around nice pigs without being huge beasts. (other than John, he's a big dude)

I bought a two acre farm and have been slowing working on getting it up and running. Unfortunately I was moving a cabinet and pulled it too far out of my trailer bed. It fell and ripped my bicep tendon. I’m sitting here watching you put on chains with two arms, realizing how important having a working second arm is for a farmer. It’s been difficult but I’m getting surgery and hopefully i get back my full strength soon, because my farm needs me. Luckily I have a lot of people who have stepped up to help me out.

I always enjoy having warm gloves at the ready to switch out on bitterly cold days. It protects your hands and allows you to keep working.

Actually, there's an argument FOR your method, Pete. By tending to the animals' needs in the manner in which you do, it helps to ensure that you DO take the time to inspect your livestock. It could become too easy to neglect doing what you're doing while waiting for the troughs to fill up. So, your method is efficient. Everybody's lookin' good and fat/sassy. Keep warm my friend.

Honestly Pete, is there anything you can’t do? Sustainable architecture, home construction/rebuild, animal husbandry, poultry farming, mechanics, writing, clock repair, small business management, philosophy. What else?! Film production…and comedy??? That’s actually an art form and you’re rocking it! I just discovered your channel a few weeks ago looking for “farmer’s market” advice and I can’t stop watching. I’m in the middle of reading your book now, and I love how as you describe your journey and what you have done with the place, I can picture it in my mind from watching the videos of your farm. I live on 3.5 acres in the middle of no-where Wyoming and love to see others living a happy self-sustaining life. Thanks for the gift of your story!

I totally agree with what you said about efficiency, sometimes you just can’t invent the better mouse trap. We should be on our farm in a few months that we bought in Tennessee. We have so much to do to get it up and running. It’s was overgrown and idle for 5 1/2 years. Watching your videos will save me a lot of missteps I would have made had I not found your channel. Lovely to see what's happening on a cold day. We used to keep the bedding in the cow shed all winter and only empty it in the spring when the cows returned to the pasture. It ws pretty deep by then. The other thing I notice is the dramatic change in the quantities of eggs laid by my hens as soon as we pass the winter solstice on December 21. Keep up the great content 😊

I have a bunch of Whitetail deer I take care of all winter, Med Crack Corn with Deer feed mixed in, Alfalfa green hay and water. In the morning at 5 AM and in the evening I make sure they are are OK. They are good friends... Bucks County Pennsylvania.

You're so right about the gloves, now I have missed a few opportunities because I ran out of dry gloves

Hey Pete, im a honey bee rancher and an avid skier. I know the last episode you said you were looking for winter gloves. I recommend Kinco WINTER gloves. They have them in Mitts and in Glove form. You probably want the dexterity but the mitts also have an 5 finger insert for added warmth. They are made from pig leather too so extra durability. They come with a back of wax to keep them water proof. Suggest you buy a tube of it as well. You'll need to re-apply a few times each winter. I've skied with them and worked with them and they hold up better than most and they are relatively low cost. They have a work version but they are not insulated. I have them too and they've lasted a really long time.

I got a shrink hose last winter and it’s been a real life saver. I can easily put it in a bucket and take it back in with me. My pigs bent up cattle and pig panels like they were made of baling wire. 😫

Hey Pete why dont you string up that garden hose in the rafters of the barn and make it have a peak in the middle so it will drain when unhooked? Less wet hands, no coiling frozen hose and wont freeze.

I am looking forward to warmer weather so I can build some fence and get some animals in here on the new farm. In the meantime, I stay busy with my remodeling projects and clearing trees... It was so good that I didn't realize your angle was from UNDER the MD last week until you dropped something on the camera. You are like the Alfred Hitchcock of farming videos.

You ever thought about closing in that one part with the pigs are at so won't be so cold and maybe put some little flaps so the pigs can go through but the wind won't.. THINKING like a MOM 😁 as well as all your other animals a little spot where they can go into or not little big enough for them to go into LOL in a corner somewhere of their little home so when it gets really breezy or rainy or snowy that can all go in there and huddle lay down but still being a little place instead of outside sort of speak..

I just found some gloves at Lowes that are AWESOME for winter chores---they're insulated rubber. OMG--a game changer dealing with those wet chores. Love when you're dealing with the pigs. It's funny how skittish they remain. You're so calm around them. Perhaps they know the future????

Love all your videos apart from when you put them in the pen at the slaughter house I know this has to be done it’s just not feasible to keep them all and it’s all part and parcel of having a farm hope you and the family are keeping safe and well I could watch them all day x
