What do you think about fastpacking? Fun or sufferfest?

Just did this trail in 3 nights, four days. We saw so many people running the whole thing in one day. Crazy.

So ultra-marathoning for people who enjoy sleeping outside. Love it!

I'm from Scotland and the scariest thing you'd see while hiking in the woods here is a deer. You guys are so brave knowing that there are bears!!!!! OMG

Started fastpacking this year at 55 years of age. Great way to get distance, push yourself and keep the wife happy. Its hard work but there is no better feeling than completing an ultramarathon in a day carrying around 10Kg over hard terrain. Jedi level stuff it is.

Killer video! Best so far. As a former fast-packer and current cinematographer, I really appreciate the pace you kept, the shots you captured, and the information you delivered. Thanks for the virtual adventure!

Awesome video! I’m a ultra runner that’s just getting into fast packing and was looking for a lightweight sleep system. The setup you used looked perfect.

Love you vids, Justin. Thanks for sharing your adventures. I'm 73 and still going, but I am crazy careful about my knees. Anything happens to my knees and my backpacking days are over. So I just have to admire your strength and stamina and stay in my own lane. 🙂

Justin, forgive me for commenting on your video without telling you how much I have enjoyed your channel and will continue to check it out. Great reviews and info my friend and I love how you connect with the awesome places that you visit. I wore out my knees running back when their were no Air Jordans. Can only be thankfull at age 64 and 20 years later that I can carry a 30 pound pack for a few miles LOL! Keep up the great work!

Great upload! I got tired of those Pro Meal bars pretty fast. The base for all of them is brown rice sugar and oats so they all the flavors kind of start to blend together. You can also do better for calorie density. Pro bars are 4.3cal per gram which is a bit less than a Cliff Nut Butter bar. Not sure if they're making their way to Canada but I've recently got hooked on YES brand bars which are 5cal/g and the primary ingredients for each are whatever the flavor is as opposed to being primarily cheap syrup (sugar) and grain. Another good option are the single serving packs of nut butter and making your own cookie on a Honey Stinger waffle. This latter option is a much higher calorie density than a Pro bar and gives you a slightly more balanced source fat, carbs, and protein. For example 32g pack of chocolate sunflower butter has 18g of Fat, 8g of carbs, 6g of protein. Combined with a Honey Stinger you get a 360 calorie 62g snack (nearly 6cal/g) with 25g of fat, 27g of carbs, and 7g of protein. Tastes way better too.

I'd love to be able to hike faster since time is limited out on trails. Most of us only get weekends or a few days at a time so covering more ground can lead to more adventures. At the same time, life isn't a rush, I thoroughly enjoy taking my turtle pace time and still covering the same trails! Like everything in life and outdoors - variety is the key.

I'm fortunate enough to have the fitness to run a trail like this in less than a day. I've even run through the night a few times to go like 130 or 150 km and 6-8km of elevation gain in one go, but that's most definitely sufferfest territory.

Wow!! Loved the video. Looked phenomenal. The pace, the scenery, the ground you covered. I watched your live feed and did not realise for a second how much you put into this, pretty spectacular tbh. Great stuff.
