Wait until you hear How To Be Me with these 2. It is another live performance and a song Ren wrote about his friend who took his own life. I LOVE how they duet that one...I wish there was a whole album of them together.

I think this is my favorite Ren song. It's so vulnerable. They don't want to take the medication prescribed because it makes them feel like they're walking around in chalk outlines. But, if they don't take it, they may have an issue because they didn't take their meds. I've never been in that situation but somehow the writing makes it so relatable.

Ren did an amazing song (my favourite) called Crutch... with Bibi. (his girlfriend at the time.) He wrote it about 6 years ago before he had the Lyme's diagnosis. He had been in and out of hospital, he had a breakdown, and he was scared his illness was going to push everyone away. It is a hauntingly beautiful song.

Hi Jen. I’ve been a subscriber for a long time but not sure if I’ve ever commented? I just wanted to thank you for for your honesty, empathy and sharing your experiences in such a Frank and insightful way. Thank you for continuing your support Ren. Thank you also for your pearls of wisdom in this video. After 33 years of severe depression and chronic severe joint, spinal pain and fibromyalgia I just made the decision to ask to come off SSRI’s and wean myself down to the minimum of pain pills. I’m so tired of them not working and feeling numb to the world. I bet you a million dollars my blood serotonin levels are just fine! Seasonal affective disorder is another matter but I have vitamin D3 for that. Where I live the SAD rate is extremely high and the government 100% subsidizes blood tests for it. Without trying to sound trite/fan girl/hyperbolic in any way, REN’s lyrics and music have given me a wider perspective o and appreciation of the absolute bubble I’ve been living in. I adore that this beautiful artist is singing his pain for the world to hear and I hope he gets some awards at the Official Prague Video Awards. He and Samuel Perry-Falvey (his mate and cinematographer) both deserve their flowers. Much love from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia xxx

Always Love your Reactions Jen ❤ The Song is Beautiful but Ren x Chinchilla How to be Me (Live) is Epic, Sung Live on top of a Bridge it’s a Song Ren Wrote for his friend Joe Hughes who jumped from a Bridge and was never found, it still affects Ren every day and you can see the emotion at the end of the Song with Tears rolling down Rens Cheeks as he pays Tribute to his friend. RIP Joe.

The first time I heard this song I cried. I cried because of how I watched Dr's chase one pill after another to "help" my ex. She had 3 brain surgeries on two different tumors. Which subsequently caused all kinds of other nerve and body issues. Wonderful reaction to such a powerful song. They have more songs together. One I really like is: How to Be Me (it's a song dedicated to one of Ren's friends that committed suicide). It's live and beautifully done.

I honestly can't ever remember hearing a better duet and LIVE, just awesome. I love everything Ren does and on whatever hat he wears, and as for Chinchilla she is just stunning , her Fingers ( Live ) is out of this world.

For sure, my first thought after it finished was: Noo :(, keep it going, this too good! Such a tragic and real song, but also so very beautiful. They are both outstanding in this live performance. But Ren's poetic ability is just so insane. His ability to put words to feelings are just on another level. As someone who has lived with severe depression for 38 years this one really nails that feeling of when you are on meds that are supposed to inhibit your depressive state. It really feels like you are a floating chalk outline. Wonderful song, so relatable.

Ren is still referring to his time in the Psyc Ward, and he’s referring to the meds his doctors misprescribed him when they misdiagnosed his illness. None of it was his choice, they didn't realize he had Lymes Disease.

I cry every time! I’ve watched so many reactions and I still cry. I’m chronically ill and Ren understands. I adore him in every way! Try How to Be Me Live by Ren X Chinchilla it is more touching I think. Or The Big Push Rens band Sweet Little Lady Live it is wonderful!!

Another great reaction, loved it! I've seen other reactors trying to wrap their heads around what "walk around in a floating chalk outline" means. But Jen, who is always fooling around, playing "just a tad crazy chick", when this line dropped was just "Aaaah, OK!" and knew exactly what it means immediately.

I want to say, I came across a video of Ren with his Band the Big Push called Englishman in New York. The singing and harmonies are some of the best i have ever heard. Its a sleeper needs more attention.

Ren and Chinchilla have a chemistry together that is indescribable. There are other great collaborations between the two: "Ren X Chinchilla - How To Be Me (live)" and "CHINCHILLA x Ren - Sexual Healing (Marvin Gaye) Live". You should also take a look at Chinchilla solo: "CHINCHILLA - FINGERS Live" shows her incredible talent. She just became independent again ... so she also needs some love from the reactors. Chinchilla with Ren is sublime in How to be Me (Live) really stunning masterpiece of lyrics and harmonies, it's about suicide awareness and I believe it's videoed on the bridge where Ren's friend ended his life.

The songs about coming to terms with the feeling you feel when you take the pills that they gave you so you don’t feel the way you normally feel. A lot of them make you feel like you’re just walking around numb no feelings at all, like you’re dead.

Hello Jen. First off, sorry for the novel length comment. A couple months ago I found Ren here on youtube and have taken the deep dive down the rabbit hole. Like so many, my first intro to Ren was "Hi Ren". I hadn't really listened to much music for quite some time now because it's all just the same 'ol over and over. "Hi Ren" hit me so hard, I'm not afraid to admit, I cried. It just hit home so hard that to hear him put into words the turmoil that I've experienced just... Yeah... I've spent hours... days... listening to his music and watching reaction videos. I love your videos. They're the most honest and real I've seen to this point. When it comes to "Chalk Outlines" and your comments on how the medical "profession" likes to push pills... I've been there. From the age of 17 (almost 50 now) the docs pushed pain meds (heavy codeine) on me for my chronic pain. After several months of that I realized they weren't worth what they were doing to me. Several years later I was put on depression meds. Took those for a long time. Felt dead to the world. The thing I learned with those is that if you miss a dose or two for whatever reason, the crash is worse than the condition you are taking them for. I no longer take any meds and haven't for many years. I've looked inside myself and found my balance. Sure, I have some bad days but at least I can feel... The pendulum keeps swinging and I keep dancing the eternal dance. My god, finally an artist with words worth repeating.

Yes, absolutely. I definitely wanted more. And yo, the eye contact and singing, looking at your counterpart and the acoustics are intense af 😅 these two would make a power couple. But in reality, this was just as intimate as it gets, lol. And as a musician that has sung counter to a female while facing her.... yo it's an insane experience acoustically. The circular is dense to be real af hahaha

Everybody already recommended "How to be me" live and I totally agree. I still think that Ren x Chinchilla crossovers are only a tip of Chinchilla's iceberg of vocal range and musical talent. Chinchilla is like: Aretha Franklin meets Janis Joplin meets Beyoncé. She is talented AF and has a very unique ability to express all types emotions in a raw / purest form. I highly recommend her live solo performances like "Vero Presents: Chinchilla - Fingers (live)".
