He died of heart attack under the bridge in Breda and with his head on the curb . The place where he died has now a picture of the great master . Dekker's hands were a different weapon - the Thai's of old did not generally use the hands like western boxers. Dekker's woke them up to this...or rather sometimes put them to sleep. He was awesome with a capital 'A'.

Parr is confusing Dekker's injuries and especially his right ankle with an infection he got because of his injuries. And yes, they did at some point wanted to amputate his leg. After that Ramon had to completely change his way of fighting, using his right leg to a minimum.
