Yes I look forward for it too because I can’t stand greasy sunscreens. But it’s not for those strong sunny days, try out the EVY Foam one in the brown can if you want something not too heavy but super heavy duty sunscreen for those extremely sunny days

Biore is actually a Japanese brand. As for the blue dye in sunscreen. Some Asian sunscreen has it for color correcting or 'brightening' features (usually in Asia that means making you look fairer). In fact Biore UV has one specifically with that. Tried that, nice texture and all but the brightening part is not my jam.

Beauty of Joseon is one of my favorite sunscreens and I am so grateful to you for introducing it to us! It’s very lightweight, it disappears completely, does not make you shine and look oily and it is not comedogenic which has been an issue with almost all of the sunscreens I’ve ever tried. The only hiccup I’ve had with it was when I just began using it while taking accutane. My skin is very sensitive right now and it took me about a week of getting used to but now we’re friends and it is doing its job perfectly well.

Biore is J-Beauty btw and they make a lot of great skincare products including sunscreen. I've tried this one before and it has a nice gel cream texture that absorbs quickly, so ideal for those with oily skin. But I believe it has fragrance and a bunch of citrus extracts that could be irritating though, so sensitive skin proceed with caution. Hope this helps 😊

Despite being a pale, easily burned white chick who knows better, for years I struggled to wear sunscreen daily because I hated how it felt and smelled. A couple of years ago I started following Dr. Dray and she convinced me to try Asian sunscreens. Such a huge difference! I now wear sunscreen almost daily. It has made a noticeable difference in my roseacea too. I'm currently using that Missha Sun milk. I like it well enough, but the Purito has been my favorite.

I tried so many chemical sunscreens and I always without an exception react to them with redness, pimples, itchiness etc. so I only use mineral sunscreens (paula‘s Choice calm spf 30) Until I‘ve discovered beauty of Joseon. Stock up. I just discovered Stylevana I was nervous because of long delivery because of being in HK but it’s worth the wait. They are having a sale right now 2 BOJ for $17. I have tons of sunscreen and toners in my cart, spending a bunch of stuff for me and my kids’ skin. I love that they have exp dates on their product. My last purchase has a pretty long shelf like, into 2024 I think. I tried Skin1004 Madagascar Centella and I thought it’d be too greasy but no, love it as well. Pyung Yul and Instree toners are in my cart as well. Dr Dray spoke highly of these products too. So. Excited. 😍

Thank you for yet another extremely educational video! While I realize the majority of your followers are of the younger generations, please don't forget about us oldies who are (finally) able to benefit from all this wonderful information (so us in the 60+ sphere). We are dealing with decades of skin neglect through ignorance, so hoping you might dedicate one upcoming video to products that may help reverse (wishful thinking) problems like glycation, etc. Personally, I would love to see you discuss the pros/cons of the Matrixyl product lines: 3000, Synth-6 targeting horizontal/forehead wrinkles, and the newest one Morphomics targeting more vertical wrinkles like nasolabial. Olay also has a dedicated moisturizer that is a combination Niacinamide + Peptides (It seems to absorb well and give a slight 'tightening' feel, although I have not be able to find the percentage of Niacinamide in it ... Olay's claim is 99% which doesn't make sense to me).

I’m with you! Going to be 60 this year and still don’t wear sunscreen. Our generation, as you said, just didn’t know. Just like the smokers of the 50s didn’t know it was bad for their health. I may try one of these and hope to hell I get in the habit of using it. 😅

@@Sufferingsassafrass I'm hitting 70 in the fall, and I've tried doing the sunscreen thing a few times and under makeup they were all disasters. Unfortunately, I'm still a smoker although have been able to cut back but not totally kick the habit ... while most likely doing major damage to the body, has kept me out of the homicide detectives grasp. Back in our teenage and 20-something years, no one saw a dermatologist ... not even sure they existed. Then as the years went by (working, running a household, dealing with kids, etc.) who really had the time/energy to even think about what was drooping, sagging, losing volume ... above and below the neck. My goal now is to try to undo a little of that damage and make the undertakers job of making me look presentable in the casket a little easier.

@@cherylmyers5095 I've been using two very good tinted sunscreens, alternating between Australian Gold SPF 50 and Bliss Block Star SPF 30. Both are available for around $20 at Ulta (Australian Gold) or Target and WalMart (Bliss Block Star). I use them as a one-step sunscreen, primer and creamy base/foundation on my fair-skinned 63 year old face. They both work well over lightweight moisturizers and under loose or pressed mineral powder foundation, if I want a little heavier coverage. Most of the time I just set them with a light dusting of translucent pressed powder, well-buffed with a good quality brush. I have rosacea, and trying to color match its moodiness with traditional liquid or cream foundations became impossible about twenty years ago. These sunscreen products both have a nice, semi-satin finish, and contain mineral-only active sunscreen ingredients, so they don't cause any extra irritation around my eyes. At times when my skin is particularly sensitive, like during dry, windy weather ("Santa Ana" winds here in Southern California), I use the Australian Gold as both of these sunscreens do have some fragrance and the Block Star's scent is very citrusy and can be irritating to my face. They both remove well with the two-step "double cleanse" method that seems to be the norm these days; the Australian Gold is very water resistant and sometimes needs a little micellar water as a final step for complete removal. I should note that I also live in an area with very hard water; sometimes my cleansing routine ends with a final wipedown rinse with distilled water on a cotton pad. I have found great improvement in the texture of my skin since starting to wear sunscreens on my face every single day, a habit I started only about 10 years ago. Now if I could just find some magic potion for the sagging jowls, droopy hooded eyelids, deep vertical lines around my lips...I have a high-mileage face, but the sunscreen helps by not allowing new age spots to crash the party. And of course, you know you have to quit smoking, I did thirty years ago and have no regrets. Good luck!

@@PassionPno Those sunscreens you just listed are the exception and shouldn't be used to represent European sunscreens as a whole. The vast majority of European sunscreens don't disclose their exact PPD ratings and usually don't go much higher than the required minimum, which is 1/3 of the UVB protection. So in the case of a SPF50 sunscreen the PPD would still be around 16/17 for most European sunscreens which is equivalent to PA++++.

I’ve seen a few skincare influencers mention that whatever sunscreen they’re reviewing covers up the entire uva spectrum up to 400nms, but I thought that no sunscreen protects higher than 370nms, which is why the la roche uvmune was such a big deal, it contains the first filter to protect against that missing 30nms and so is the only one that protects up to 400nms

Most UVA filters offer at least some protection in the 400nm range, Avobenzone and Tinosorb M being among the best. It's just that the UVMune400 filter offers peak protection at around 380-400nm and that make it so sensational.

I’m in Australia and we have some amazing sunscreens I can only tolerate mineral sunscreens on my face and for body chemical needs to be fragrance free…..mature dry sensitive skin. I’m loving Naked Sunday Collagen Mineral Glow for my face it’s so hydrating, hint of colour, touch of glow, slightly blurs pores and fine lines so is perfect on its own for everyday and plays well under makeup. Bondi Sands make some really good sunscreens at a good price.

In South Korea, sunscreens are regulated as cosmetics, and the US doesn’t recognize the new gen filters as active ingredients. It is legal for US consumers to order cosmetics from abroad for personal use.

Love your videos !! I do love long format, although I assume it can be hard to come up with enough content! I had a couple questions. A) what do we do about peach fuzz on the face? I’m only 25 and I feel like I’ve noticed it more in the last couple of years. I think as women age it gets “worse” too, but are there factors that worsen it? It’s all very blonde so I haven’t been too stressed but around my lips I notice it more. 2) I did an aloe Vera mask last night (like, bought the plant and scraped out the gel), and I kind of feel like it did something! Face felt super soft and smooth today. It’s obviously not a glorious texture, but I read there are lots of vitamins, minerals, and a bunch of other components in it. Do you think topical aloe really would make a difference in skin texture/target any problems ? Can any of the nutrients get absorbed through the skin barrier? Would love little shorts about these! ❤ have a beautiful day!

I would love to hear your take on the new l'oreal filter that is included in the Uvmune 400 line compared to the new Avene filter (Triasorb). They claim to protect against extra long UV rays that other filters can't cover.

Other Asian brands also have a lot of fantastic SPF (Biore is actually a Japanese brand for example) pls do a ep2 for this series! I personally get my Asian SPF from Yamibuy I initially just use them for Asian snack but end up also getting Asian SPF from them lol but pls remember to filter for fulfilled by yami only. A few that I would recommend trying are: Elixir advanced day care from shiseido, decorté multifunction sunscreen, mistine aqua base ultra protection. So many L’Oréal brands like kiehls and lancome formulated the “same” sunscreen completely different and the Asian version is always so much better 😂

Beauty of joseon is my new lover for life since a week. I ordered it 2 weeks ago on stylevana but realized they ship from China which I don't like because we don't know how they manipulate the items and products there. The sunscreen is heaven on my skin though, NO burning or discomfort at all. It is calmy and refreshing for my redness and rosecea and it is so soothing and moisturizing for my sensitivity. I just ordered 2 others today but on the brand website to make sure it is sent from South Korea. Thank you very much to have dived into details here. Very appreciated Dr.shereene 🥰🥰🥰

Thank you for the information shared in this video! Just wondering if you have any insights into if these sunscreens could be safe for use in children? I’d like to protect my kids and the application of the Korean sunscreens I’ve tried (both chemical and hybrid) are so so so much better than the mineral sunscreens in the U.S. Any insights into how these sunscreens are recommended for use in children in Asian countries?

The Tocobo sunscreen stick is a great reapplication sunscreen. It’s soft and silky, you don’t need to touch it after applying it and it’s very light. It gives you just a little bit of glow without making u look or feel greasy. Definitely recommend for oily or normal skin types. 👍

I would order far enough in advance of running out of a product I've come to rely on for daily use. The problem is, from my POV, is that you don't know how long skincare items have been sitting in a possibly unheated or non-air conditioned warehouse waiting to be shipped. This questionable storage time can adversely affect the active ingredients, and the formulas can separate in their containers. So it's not just a question of inconvenience, but of efficacy.

Like the Purito daily sunscreen spf 50 a lot. Feels a bit greasy going on but is absorbed quickly. It doesn't sting my eyes which is amazing for me. You don't need a moisturizer underneath unless your skin is super dry. I'm a senior and my skin is semi-dry and it's enough.

I have been using Canmake mineral sunscreen, mostly I’m indoor but one day I went out in sun without hat for 2-4 minutes and I got another spot of melasma, so based on this, I think only Australian sunscreen can protect from Australian strong sun! Now I switched to Naked Sunday Mineral even thought it leaves slightly white cast and gives me shiny look, but I can’t take risk! Hope this helps other people too

Agreed. I've used several Korean and Japanese sunscreens and burned, even with minimal sun exposure. I'm very dubious about their testing and rating system, especially after the Purito scandal. I'm sticking with LaRoche Posay. It's more expensive but I know it works.
