Can you believe that "Chocolate" was Max/Changmin's solo debut? After 17 years in the industry, he finally had his official solo debut in 2020 with this song, which is the title track from his first mini solo album. And in true Changmin TVXQ style he blows it out of the water. Both Changmin and U-Know had a few solo singles before this, but it wasn't until 2019 for U-Know with his song "Follow" and then Max, almost a year later, that they finally both have solo albums. Changmin/Max has been nicknamed Bambi by his fans and he has taken it on as a sort of spirit animal that represents him, so I think the deer in his "Devil" MV is supposed to symbolize him. If you read the lyrics, the song is about having self doubts and bad thoughts and harboring those feelings within your heart. So in the end the deer (himself) becomes like the Devil because he has now embraced those feelings. During U-Know's and his reaction video to the "Devil" MV, Changmin said the forest you see him in is a real forest and they had to take a boat to get there. They used drones with lights on them to light the area to give it that spooky effect. And although "Devil" is a remake of a song by Alex Runo, Changmin wrote his own lyrics for the song and gave it a different storyline than the original version. "Devil" is the title track off his second solo mini album Devil, which was released last year. His "Fever" stage video was a pre-release from the album that was part of SM's New Year's Eve SMTown SMCU Express livestream concert. If you haven't yet, check out his "Maniac" promotional video, which was also a song on this album. Notice how SM used "Devil" to draw Changmin/TVXQ into its SM Culture Universe with the reference to Kwanyga in the lyrics and the pink planet you see in the MV, etc. I guess as Rising Gods of the East, it makes sense that TVXQ could be otherworldly-beings just like the rest of SM's groups and artists, in order to connect their storyline to the rest of SM's Universe story. As you heard, Changmin is known for his powerful high notes and growl (even more powerful than Onew or Jonghyun from SHINee or Chen and Baekhyun from EXO -- all SM powerhouse vocalists), he literally has one of the widest note ranges of almost any Kpop artist. In a high note battle he always wins. It wouldn't be a TVXQ/Changmin song if we didn't get to hear at least one unbelievable high note from him. TVXQ's fandom is Cassiopeia and their fan color is red -- which is why you see one of the primary colors in most of TVXQ's MVs is red -- and when you attend a TVXQ concert you will see an ocean of red. Welcome to the Cassiopeia fandom. If you like TVXQ then you are a Cassi. TVXQ truly are all-time legends in the music industry. As an SM Entertainment group, it is no surprise that the members of TVXQ are outstanding vocalists. Being some of the best dancers and vocalists in the industry is what we have come to expect from all of SM's artists and groups. That's just a fact about the type of people SM selects to be a part of its company. Changmin (the youngest member) was 15 and U-Know was 17 years old when they debuted, so even though they are one of the senior Kpop groups, Changmin is only 35 and U-know is 37. TVXQ is SM's most senior group that is still active, but U-Know and Changmin are still younger than, or the same age as, many of the members of the legendary groups who came after them within their generation. They are best friends with Super Junior and they pretty much all grew up together. Changmin is also best friends with Minho from SHINee. And Xiumin from EXO says Changmin was one of the reason why he auditioned for SM because he wanted to meet Changmin and become like him. TVXQ have always had a more sexy and mature concept, but unless you real delve in deep and get to know their Japanese songs in particular, a lot of new fans have no idea how sexy they can really be. Fun fact: Changmin got married in 2020 right before his "Chocolate" MV was released, so his songs and MVs are much more "adult". And he became a father to a boy last year. They are men, not boys. :D Tohoshinki (TVXQ) are also one of the most famous singers in Japan as well, even among Japanese artists. And like SHINee and BoA, they are so popular in Japan that they are considered part of the mainstream music scene. TVXQ has one of the biggest worldwide fan bases and they sell out some of the largest concert venues in the world. They are one of SM Entertainment's top selling groups, easily selling out concert tours around the world.

Oh boy, yeah, you weren't ready for Changmin. He's a LOT. His solo work is very theatrical and just suits him so well. Fever stage video is like straight out of The Greatest Showman, I swear! Maniac, is one of my favorites, he does a nod to Hitchcock in the video, so there are references to his movies throughout, and the song is a manic BOP! Human is one of my FAVORITE Changmin songs, ugh, I can't get enough of it.

as a 31-year-old Cassie who started following TVXQ into their duo era back in 2010 and whose bias was Max, it's been so fascinating to watch later millennials/gen z discover them and fall in love with them. i feel like they deserve way more accolades for how insanely good they are and have always been. i dont follow or listen to kpop anymore other than them, but im so happy to see the new k-fandom embrace them

So I see that the 'Heaven's Day' and 'Closer' performances have already been recommended so here are some others. For Max he has a b-side on the Chocolate mini album called 'Piano'. The lyrics are.....very spicy. Same for 'Dirty Dancing' off the Devil mini album. The Devil mini album he put out is amazing. No skips. For TVXQ spicy have you checked out 'Before U Go' Dance Version MV? When this song released and they performed it on music shows they were made to take out the dance break section after a few performances. If you watch you will know why.

TVXQ OT5 did have seductive lyrics and dance songs although they almost were on the Japanese B-side instead of their Korean album so many didn't know that they all had naughtiness in them from early on. If you're interested, please check out Try my love, No, Ride on, Nobody Knows However, their solo would scream best for what kind of kinky they truly are but you should be prepared first. LOL Honestly, I'm still impressed by Changmin's Heaven's Day, Jeajoong's Kiss B and Junsu's Intoxicated

for the song ‘devil’ the word i’m pretty sure you were looking for is gospel! or at least gospel-inspired. it’s a neat paradox considering the title. i also love how the music video and lyrics are contrasting light and dark and internal struggle. this song still has such a hold on me.

Changmin's been my bias wrecker since I discovered him LMAO ❤ I got to see fever live in April and boy was that an experience! I recommend his song Human it's so good! Very different but catchy and beautiful. Also for my spicy definitely recommend Junsu's Intoxication and Jaejoong's kiss b live rock version. The one where he's sitting on a couch haha I can't quite remember which concert it was. Also JYJ's remix version of Ayy Girl in Japan is way too sexy

22:20 I also think Changmin has a very theatrical quality to his voice and songs! He has some softer songs I enjoy too, but I've come to really define his solo work by this very full-on, intense presence.
