In the last installment, I got the upper helixes almost complete. This time, let's frame up the central peninsula for the last of the dioramas.

I’m always amazed that you can build these layouts for a space that most times you haven’t seen and to build it in your garage and get everything dead level even though your garage floor has a slope that you must deal with. Great job. I like the idea of building the cabinetry into the end of the peninsula.

Your framing is fantastic. Custom designs like yours shows how it should be done. Love it when you say "Don't go away" Like I can, its too fascinating to not see it to the end. :)

Hello Peter. I’ve been following along on my TV. And although I can hit the like button, there is no place to leave a comment. So. I’m doing a drive-by. Magnificent build, as always. I look forward to to seeing your next update. Take care.

How are you doing? Always amazed at how good your benchwork is.

A complex, large-scale 3-D jigsaw! :-) Looking forward to seeing the full set of sub-roadbed installed. Hmmm - might not all be visible from one shot if you put the peninsula backdrops up first.

Backdrops and other view-blocks that prevent the entire railroad from being viewed at the same tine are a good way of making it seem larger than it really is.

@@mpeterll Understood - I've seen that in many layouts on KZfaq. But, I just thought it would be cool to see all of the subroadbed in one shot - snaking around the ends and the peninsula.

Dear Peter, very interesting how you put together the peninsula section of this layout. Truly understand what you said about the ‘wobble’ and why you had to put in the braces from the (western) side of the railroad. Hope you keep those braces, just for the time being. They may also come handy when you install the layout at the client’s designated room. Do I understand the peninsula will also have a second level?

yes, the peninsula is only two levels; everywhere else is three (including the staging area).

It’s really interesting to follow this progress, in part because I also model the Clinchfield. But this build has some similarities to my layout buildout. I’m curious, how far are you going for this client? Is this build/contract for completion just to track and wiring? Or will there be any base scenery or beyond for the customer? Thanks for sharing, I’m particularly enjoying this build.

Glad you're enjoying the build. As for how much of the railroad will be built by me . . . I will reveal that soon enough.

Would you list what electrical equipment you use to wire the reverse loop with?
@mpeterll
@mpeterll 2 жыл бұрын
There are no reverse loops on this particular layout. There are however several easy methods for wiring reverse loops. Perhaps the simplest is with a Tam Valley "dual frog-juicer" wired into the feeds. Most makes of DCC control systems also produce power district managers that have reverse-loop capability.
