The defense looked pretty decent overall, and on offense, the Chiefs have a lot of work to do. You could certainly tell Toney had missed the entire preseason, but we shouldn't leave the loss at his feet. There were misfires all around, but I'm sure Reid, Nagy, and co. will get things figured out.

@@ethanguerette9324 Mahomes easily played well enough to win the game. Did he miss a couple of throws? Yes. However, the offensive line got their asses handed to them most of the night. Mahomes was constantly under pressure and there were no running lanes. The receivers completely crapped the bed. Nobody was getting consistent separation. There were eight drops... EIGHT of them. The pick 6 was a perfectly thrown ball that an NFL receiver should catch EVERY time. Kadarius Toney was SO bad they would have actually been better off picking a random fan from the stands to play in his place.

As for Jawan Taylor where do I even begin? The guy kept lining up illegal and jumping early for some reason the ref only flagged him once but he could have easily been flagged a lot more. He's not broken. I believe in KT and people dogpiling on him isn't going to help nothing. I've only recently started watching football for more than the Chiefs in the last few years and one of the reasons why is the whole Monday morning quarterback thing. Men trolling and slamming players for mistakes that are going to happen when 98% of the time the person complaining couldn't do what the player does for one quarter let alone for doing it day in and out. Give him room, and time to work with Patrick he was a pivotal essentail part of winning the Superbowl not just for the touch down but for a new record forever cemented in history as the longest punt return. And he will be again when the Chiefs go back to the Superbowl. He will make you eat your words if you troll him, the same way he made Giants fans eat their words.

Toney wasn't ready. He was playing sped up and trying to make a play before he had the ball all night. Really would have liked a Pacheco and CEH drive in the 3rd to set up some play action instead of just letting Mahomes freelance on every down with receivers who weren't with it last night. Defense looked fantastic though.

Positively I agree with you. The defense played very well against a very good offense. The negative is obvious, the multitude of dropped passes was, imo, pathetic. I kept yelling at the TV, "Catchy the freaking ball!" It wasn't like the drops were inconsequential. Drives could have been extended and more offensive scoring would have been the result.

Defense only gave up 14 points, not bad for missing 2 potential starters on the d-line. Great work to spags and the entire defense Offense To the Right tackle, the entire world know when we’re going to run and pass by where you line up, if you’re on the line- it’s run, if you’re in the backfield next to Mahomes it’s a pass- get your sh#t together Short yardage- put someone under center, put two extra o-linemen right behind him and push the F-ing pile to pickup the first down. It’s not like we haven’t seen that before, seems to work just fine. File the BS quick sneak/handoff play away……it ain’t surprising anybody

I'm going to be honest. This rough start is actually kind of exciting in a way. I know I can't be the only one. Probably because this team has hit rough times before and always battled back. I remember the 2015 Chiefs starting 1-5 and going on that 10 game win streak. It does make it exciting because you know most of the problems from last night are correctable and aren't a talent problem.

2015 we had a much easier schedule. If we're trying to repeat for the Super Bowl, we can't lose games to inferior teams. This loss could very well cost us home field advantage in the playoffs.

@@celticdw1983 It's possible, but last night makes it exponentially more difficult. We play 5 games against top 10 teams in the league plus the 6 division games. We would have to go 9-2 in those 11 games and win out the remainder to be 14-3 like last year. Since Reid became HC we've had 1 game every season like last night. Part of it was growing pains for a young core, part of it was the lions defensive front playing really well. O-line needs some discipline. Never mind the penalties themselves, you're tipping your hand to the opposing D when you line up in positions that scream "this is a pass play!" every other down. Sports fans are hungry after an off-season's fast, so naturally everyone is running with the most sensational storylines, but I don't think there's much of a narrative to be had here. The team that played better won, and the team that lost suffered from dozens of little, easily fixable miscues. If they haven't established discipline and rhythm by week 3 or 4, that's when I'll worry.

Was there: Positive: The Crowd was electric all the way to the victory formation. Looks like Chris Jones addition would make a really good defense, amazing. One lucky pick 6 away from winning 23-21 (assuming lions score on last drive, chiefs get 3 from drive with pick 6) Mahomes had ALL DAY to throw and then extended even more. Mahomes is in absolute top scramble form. Negative: Unforced Error Penalties Need to get some stickier gloves Mahomes throws are a bit above/behind guys on most of the drops Lots of Lions fans in the stand (probably 10-15%) Fans Booed Toney after the last drop (we don't need to be down on our own guys) Still no answer for the QB sneak.
