I am talking about the mainstream Bollywood industry and the music directors like Anu Malik, Anand-Milind, Nadeem-Shravan, Jatin-Lalit and many more. @@saiadithya1279 He is actually right! Maybe an exaggeration to say "music directors were terrified".. But when Rahman arrived with Roja, Indian cinema woke up to an entirely different kind of sound that did not exist until then! And that sound was so captivating and enchanting!! And remember - we are only talking about the sound here. Earlier music directors made equally good (and sometimes better) tunes too, but the sound with Rahman was a sea apart!

Not only he sings with the emotional connect but also he modulates his voice to suit the actor, few super star actors wanted SPB to sing for them else they would not act in the movie, more than a legendary singer he was humble treated everyone around him with respect be it a new comers or fans... I watched nayakan...i wish i understood the language...kamal hassan sir was just spectacular..... especially the scene where he goes to his daughter's home and realises he has a grandson too.....man that scene!!! I was crying....after that i watched mouna ragam, iruvar and thalapati...loved all the films....and raja sir's music in all these films ❤️❤️.......being a Bengali ....i do not understand the language in the film or songs.....but I don't know why it moves me a lot....sheer magic!!

I loved this movie, I even got crush on Arvind Swami after watching this movie. But best part of movie which every one should watch was the scene when a kashmiri boy burns flag and Arvind Swami runs and lie down on the flag and music score running behind-that-scenes was out of the word, I got goose bums in that scene. Hats off to director and A.R.Rehman for that music score.

Filmfare is the greatest awards, it's better than the Oscars it's the Nobel priZe of India and I don't recall south Indian movies getting Filmfare awards. Which proves that Ananya pandey is better than Ar Rahman.

I can still rmbr when Roja first came out- was in high school in Malaysia, part of the Indian diaspora that wanted as little to do with Indian cinema or music coz it was boring bla bla, the kind of stuff our parents were into, therefore we were too cool for it. Then Roja blasted on the screens with this amazing score by A. R. Rahman. In one fell swoop, Mani Ratnam and ARR revitalised the movie/ music industry for us outside of India. Definitely watch Roja, Thiruda Thiruda, Duet and even Minsara Kanavu (for the music - there’s a dance by Prabhu Deva and Kajol. When I saw the LaLa Land dance number, I only kept seeing Prabhu Deva/ Kajol in my head. They were decades ahead :)) great job by the way. Am a new fan, bingeing on your vids. Bringing back so many great memories. Thanks!

mannil indha kadhal , he didn't sing breathless. He himself said several times that it was editing. I think he sung it breathless in some live concert. No man could replace SPB sir. Farewell sir, you were a blessing

Where he has lend his voice to so many actors. This just goes on to say , how much we expected out of some people. The singer, the legend S.P.Balasubramanyam has sung over 40,000 songs in multiple languages, won multiple state and national awards for his music, and yet was never classically trained in music. It’s his endearing quality to be simple, available to all and the ability to lift other singers with him with his music , humility, sense of purpose towards music and extremely down to earth and an eager student of music. His vocal range, ability to infuse longing and emotion in his music and control over his voice have spawned generations of his music fans in India crossing linguistic barriers. He was the go to singer for Salman Khan and a host of other Bollywood actors and the staple for stars such as Rajnikanth, Kamal Hassan, Chiranjeevi etc. He was affectionately referred to the “Paadum Nila” or the “Singing Moon” by his fans. His collaborations with A.R Rahman and more importantly the Maestro Illaiyaraja, who AR Rahman regards as his guru, gave birth to phenomenal music in the 80s, 90s, 2000s and 2010s.... A R Rahman 'The Musical Storm' & 'Mozart of Madras' that's how he has been called had won The National Award for his debut film ROJA (Tamil)..! We and especially I'm grateful to the film director Maniratnam for introducing A R Rahman 'A Real Gem of India' to the World..! Sp Balasubrahmanyam and Yesudass tutored Ks Chitra , Ks Chitra mam tutored Shreya Goshal. I've lost my father in recent years. And the songs from Sp Balasubrahmanyam is what been feeding my soul on countless nights.

That flute interlude that comes after the first verse always gives me goosebumps. The emotions in SPB's voice, followed by the fleeting flute melody, then Sujatha's golden voice. Just beautiful. 😇

I was 3 years old when this film released. I used to sing the alap (vocalisation part) all day and ask my mom to sing it for me. Music of this film is outstanding. You should react to "Yeh haseen vadiya" next.

This is the first movie of AR. Rahman and he got Nationa Award For music and also got Award for .movie .The legend of SPB sung this song for multiple languages. He sung more thsn 40 thousands songs. He is pass away two days before but he is alive with us with his songs and music also he is a wonderful human being .
