Yes. I've that they came from Atlantis. I've also heard that they originated in Northern Africa. It's a real shame that they died out as a discrete people and that we know so little of them.

Absolutely. It just proves the old-time Spanish didn't exterminate just based on skin color. Very sad, all the peoples that were destroyed based on that contact.

Hi! Love your videos. I’m a history mayor from Gran Canaria and from what I know. The mummified body accused naturally, there wasn’t really intention of preserving them, I once work with one of the mummies in the Museo Canario here in the island and it still have all organs inside, prove that the didn’t intent on mummifying. Also, from what I’ve been told is that Romans had a trade port in Lanzarote where they would trade with the natives (never settled). Another common thing even canarian people do it is calling them Guanches, Guanches are native to Tenerife, for example the native of Gran Canaria where called Canarí. This is all nitpicking but I wanted to let you know. I really enjoy your channel and I’m very happy you spread our history.

I read somewhere the role of women in Guanche society was strong. Women could be priests doctors and warriors. The monarchy was transferred through the matriarchal ancestral line. Besides the DNA evidence, I see a correlation between the Guanches and the Berbers of North Africa where the women have been leaders in their society. The Berbers or (Amazighs) also claim to descend from the famed Amazonian warriors. This visible in the Nomadic Tuareg tribe in which the women have prominent roles (equal roles) and relaxed sexual practices. The men veil their faces. They are called The Blue Men of the Sahara because of their indigo veils. The women show off their faces instead. There is a 12,000 year old carving on the side of a mountain in West Africa called The Lady of Mali which resembles a queen which might elude to an ancient female ruler. I know all this seems far fetched, but I think much of ancient history is still well hidden especially in the Sahara.

In fact the war in Gran Canaria ends when the last of the guanartemes ( king of the north kingdom of Gáldar ) , convinces the warriors who protected the princess that she should inherit the throne of the entire island, to stop the fight. after delivering the guayarmina (princess) they committed suicide by throwing themselves into the void

I have read in historian Jean-Pierre Sainton’s books (French-speaker guadeloupean specialist of the Caribeans) and in Olivier Pétré Grenouilleau’s books (French Historian, specialist on slavery) that many Africans were brought to Canarians Islands after the Spanish conquest to work as slaves after the elimination of the native population (who were destroyed through the harsh conditions of slavery there, but acculturation to Spanish culture is the main reason why Guanches culture ceased to exist), so it’s not a surprise to see also black people « natives » to the Canarians (same thing can be said about the Spanish « natives » of the islands, who descends from conquerors or from later settlers-immigrants) , as their ancestors were also brought there as slaves as they were in America. Also, there was another book I read, from Spanish historian Thomas Gomez (not the actor, but a French historian of Spanish origin, whom family migrated to France at the age of 12) specialist of the American Spanish empire, who had one chapter one his book « Droit de conquête et droit des Indiens » (right of conquest and right of Indians) who said that a previous Mexican historian in the 30’s compared the event of the Spanish conquest in the Americas with Rhodes of the Canarians Islands and had come to the conclusion that what happened in the Canarians to Guanche was a prelude to what happened to the Antillean Indians (who were those Colombus met the first : the Tainos and the Kallinago) both Natives people were then enslaved by the conquerors with the system of the Encomienda, the harsh conditions of slavery being the main reason of the many deaths (said death were denounced back then by a religious congregation who considered conquistador as criminals religiously for the ways they treated Natives, said congregation was the Dominicans, from which spawned the famous Bartholomeo de las Casas, named « protector of the Indians » because of his courage in denouncing the atrocities the Native were submitted to, his predecessor in those denounciations being the Dominican Anton de Montesinos for the Antilles in 1511 and bishop Fernando de Calvetos in 1433 for the Canarian island of Lanzarott), blended with acculturation policies the last natives survivors had adopted their conquerors culture, after what still in need of new slaves for labour many Africans, brought by Spain from the Portuguese’s who themselves brought some said slaves from other Africans slavers (whether they were merchants, kings or criminals groups practicing kidnappings) in the West African coasts. Said Africans slave had to replace the then-dead natives for labour who used to have worked until their deaths, here’s why many inhabitants of Antilles are of African descend, we also have them on the Canarians, who descended from the Africans slaves brought there. So Same things happened on the two territories (Canarians and Antilles), to the point that Gomez said that what happened to the Canarians was almost exactly what happened then in the Americas, while many people know of the American continent history (the discovery) many people ignore that it was actually the Canarians Islands who were the very start of the era of Discovery (before even the discovery of the African coast by the Portugueses, coasts who knew no conquest excepted for Angola in the 16th century, while the Canarians were discovered in 1312 by Italian navigator Lancelotto who gave to the first island the his name : Lanzarotte, then the Canarians were conquered from 1402 to 1496, so before and just when the Americas were discovered in 1492 and at the same time African Coasts were discovered from 1415 to 1509). Hell, the Canarians discovery was so much the start of the era of discovery that even the European practice of the chart given by a king to legally possess a new territory in his name (who is widely known from being used by Christopher Collumbus and then by the Mayflower pilgrims) even started in the Canarians, when French/Normand knight Jean de Bethencourt was given his chart by the Spanish king in the begin of the 1400’s (start of the Canarian conquest) it was the actual start of this practice. As controversial as my comment seems to be, I want to make clear that I do not intend a fight in the answers please, I just wanted to drop some historical knowledge about the Canarians Island. I hope it was instructive.

Your intro is about 3 times louder than your content. The last video, it hurt my ears. Please fix. How many subs do you have to have to get monetized? I'm subscribing and I hope you pick up more subs. You obviously worked hard on your research. And you have a unique perspective living there. I saw these people in a list of unusual people that said scientifically they are the purest descendants of cro magnum man. The list also talked about people descended from Denosovans. I find ancient species of man to be fascinating. There were at least 5 species that coexisted and mixed. I'm not sure if that includes the new species that they just discovered in the Philippines. Anyways, I wish your channel the best of luck.
