I like it to be its own self-contained video and then if you watch the other videos you get a bit of a deeper dive. I actually did a very similar thing for Ikoria but I did not do it for Zendikar or M21. Thanks for the reminder too. Chapters and Foretold will be in my mind now.

Thank you for your Content. I think it will be interesting to see how the snow theme plays out in human Drafts. There is a Chance that it might be better to take the lands first(if you just get mediocre packs of course) and speculate on the pay offs in later packs. A safe bet would probably be to avoid snow for the first drafts, if there are decent playables in other archetypes, because it might just be to contested. #ReadyforKaldheim

I put avoid the Snow Lands until you have a payoff as a general rule because I think that following that advice will keep a lot of Drafters safer and will help avoid feelsbad moments and train wrecks. It is a bit of a gamble on the good Snow Cards being opened and passed to you if you take the Snow Lands too highly, but prioritizing them and then trying to draft a Multicolor Snow deck could definitely be a strategy (I guess we'll have to wait and find out).

I used Shackles of Treachery + Immersturm predator in the Rakdos deck that I drafted. Got me some wins with that one. :) Pretty sure I also got the saga that sacs and pings for 3 as well. That was a fun deck to play.

Nice review! One thing I was wondering, I think dogged pursuit might be slightly better than you think. It's similar to Ill-gotten inheritance which was arguably a powerful card in it's draft format, yet Pursuit trades off the ability to nug your opponent for getting immediate value on your end step. Maybe the inability to pop it to burn your opponent and not being in a Spectacle format makes it bad, so I could be wrong.

I was always in the camp that Ill-Gotten Inheritance was over hyped and played in way too many decks, and the tradeoff on this card makes it significantly worse. It essentially means it takes 3 more turns to kill them, which is a super long time in the late stages of a game. This means a narrow card got significantly worse, which makes it unplayable in my mind. I put it in the Traps section specifically because I know people want to draw comparisons to Inheritance, but this is much weaker.

I slot that in under Removal more than as a combat trick. Instant speed removal does certainly have an effect on combat though.

I'm glad you liked it! I think White looks like a lot of fun, and the only reason it got put last is because it feels like some of the cards are not good for every White deck (as some are more controlling and some are more aggressive). Also there is a pretty flat power level for White while some of the other colors have some really powerful Top Commons. Overall I'm still excited to try all the colors out!

they aare gonna draft the last box that my local game store has this tuesday. I don't really play Limited much, so I have no idea what color combos are the best or anything. I was hoping this video would tell me what the best type was to draft, or what is the strongest. in the Kaldheim sealed event, I went with Rakdos, that didn't turn out so well, so I was thinking I'd draft something other than that.

just finish my 1st quick kaldheim draft end up 6-3.. deck is red white aura/equipments.. only lost to mana screwed.. got 2 early koll and build around them and 1st pack pick 1 trlhe creature when you boast for 5 you get a 5/5 dragon

If I may. There IS a lot of great information in this video. But it can be extremely difficult to take it all in when you are going full speed from start to finish. I had to stop the video and play back a couple sections to get that Information and actually understand it. Also you trip on your words quite frequently due to this. Not sure if reading from a script or going from memory but it does effect the quality a bit. All in all still a great video. Thx for your time putting it together! :D

quick question, does Harbinger reduce the cost of foretold Instants/sorceries twice... once when foretelling and once when casting?

I'm not a judge so I'm not entirely sure, but I think you can tap the Harbinger to both Foretell and then later cast the Fortold card (but you can only use it to cast the Foretold card if it was an instant or sorcery as you pointed out).

It could work out. If you get all the Snow Lands it might be hard for others to justify taking the payoffs. It is just risky.

Dogged pursuit looks like it could be a sleeper good card. reminds me of ill gotten inheritance in guilds of ravnica, everyone thought it was crap, but was actually a legit wincon in control, and especially, dimir decks. I guess it will depend on how fast is the format, but I wouldnt call it a trap just yet

Ill Gotten Inheritance was a very misunderstood card. Its ideal home was not in control, but in aggro, because a control deck could not afford to spend turn 4 tapping out and not affecting the board. Additionally, Ill Gotten Inheritance benefited from its activated ability to end the game much sooner than just by pinging them out. Finally, that was a set with Spectacle, so causing the opponent to lose life was relevant for that. Also, I was still never a fan of Ill Gotten Inheritance anyway, and this is far worse on every metric. I think people will win more games if they just never put this in their deck.

I personally agree - but that card (inheritance) is very polarizing. I happen to be in the camp that saw it as a legit win con in some types of decks, but Nicolai is in the camp that sees it as win-more at best. Maybe they’re right, or maybe they’re just stuck on the long-standing idea that 4 mana enchantments that don’t do anything the turn they’re cast are always bad no matter what. I don’t think this one will be as good as I think Inheritance was in its set (doesn’t have the ability to sac for 4 points of reach, and this set doesn’t have Spectacle that wants those triggers), but I think control decks might still want it as a win con.

@@HO-zi5qe This is not the type of effect a Control deck even wants because it does not help them in the situation where they typically need the most help, stabilizing early. Once you've out-resourced your opponent all you need is a flyer or something to end the game, not one damage a turn that cannot block when you need it to.

@Nicolai - I liked inheritance in its set (whatever anyone wants to say about it, in my experience, the card won games in practice), but I don’t think this new version is nearly as good. The reach on inheritance was huge to its success. I don’t see myself actively targeting this card in draft - but I could see grabbing it late in packs and it maybe making it into a deck. I suppose I shouldn’t argue against it being a trap card tho, cause I do think people taking it with inheritance in mind will find this a poor mans substitute

@@HO-zi5qe In my experience people also tend to think of cards as "good" or "bad" instead of, "good some of the time", so even with Ill Gotten Inheritance people would just put the card into any old deck without thinking of whether it was actually good there. With all that being said I anticipate never playing Dogged Pursuit and breathing a sigh of relief when my opponent plays it against me.

It's Foretold, I just constantly mess it up! It gets so confusing talking about them because I'm still not entirely sure how to refer to the step where I put the card face down, and the step where I cast it. Cause one of them is Foretelling, and the other is casting Foretold cards or casting a card from Foretell. It is just clunky to talk about.

I have trouble seeing Codespell Cleric as a particularly good card, much less a top 3 common in its color. Realistically, you’re waiting until at least T3 to play Codespell for value, and putting you in awkward position of maybe holding up your T2 play to get that value. And it’s a pretty garbage top deck later in the game. I’m sure it will be a roll player in the dedicated 2-spell deck, or something that might make cut in an aggressive boros build, but I can’t see this being a card you want in every deck that has white. I’d take the 2 mana 2/1 that gives you a 1/1 when it dies over it - that seems like it’d go in any WX deck, and a better fit as a top common.

White basically has a bunch of C level cards in this set so picking a Top 3 was tough. The thing I like about Codespell is that it is the sort of card that plays well with a lot of the themes in the set. 1 mana for 2/2 worth of stats is quite good early in the game, and facilitating it is easier in this set than it would be in others. If you are an aggressive deck, you are naturally going to have lots of cheap drops, and there are multiple First Strike 1 Drops that really use a counter well. Also, there are a decent number of 1 toughness creatures that this does a good job of punishing, there are payoffs for having a 1 mana spell to cast, and it plays well with the Foretell cards that cost 2 to Foretell and 2 to play (Augury Raven as a 4/4 Flyer on turn 3 is no joke). Overall I think the upside is high enough that I am going to be taking Codespell Cleric pretty highly.

The conditionality is what keeps me lower on Codespell. It’s great if you play it as a 2nd spell T3, but maybe the worst white creature to top deck later in the game when you’re empty handed in an aggressive deck. I view the 2/1 2-drop as better generally because there’s no WX deck that absolutely won’t want a card that gives you 3/2 worth of stats over 2 bodies for 2 mana. You’ll never 2-for-1 your opponent with Codespell, but it’s possible to kill 2 creatures in combat with the 2/1 and then the 1/1 it leaves behind later. Codespell has its place and will occasionally participate in great turns, but the 2/1 that dies into a 1/1 is always good value in limited imo

@@HO-zi5qe I think turn 3 Doublespelling will come up very frequently. Sarulf's Packmate and Augury Raven are really looking for an extra card to cast that turn and Codespell fits right in. It also combines well with First Strike 1 drops in both Red and White, and is a good combo with other Doublespell cards like Infernal Pet. Also, it is not that hard to find an extra turn to play the Cleric to get 2/2 worth of stats for only 1 mana. I just think Cleric is going to be a card that really has to be prioritized because a lot of decks will want it and it has a unique effect on the game. By the way, it has been really nice talking about the cards in the comments. I notice we've been discussing them a lot.

It is kind of ironic, but part of the reason I tripped up on this one so much was because I kept reminding myself to slow down in my head which distracted me. It made things sound a bit less natural cause I would break my flow to consciously slow down. That being said, I am aware that I tend to speed through this sort of thing.
