In high school I was taught to use the light box, best thing ever! I sometimes do the rubbing pencil on tracing paper and etc lol but I feel I can fix things as I trace over on watercolor paper.

This video introduced me to masking film! I don't have a lot of practice with it yet, but it's insanely helpful to know I have more masking options than tape and masking fluid. If you can iron the paper you work on, freezer paper can work similarly. You cut it to shape, carefully iron it on shiny side down and paint. It isn't transparent and starts lifting on its own after a little while, so you have to be fast and you can't even try removing it until it's 100% dry (even at 99% is still too wet) or else it'll kinda fuse to the paper permanently. Imo it's okay if you're in a pinch and know how it works but definitely has downsides you have to learn to work around. Masking film seems like a better version of this since it's transparent and stays on as long as you want, so I'm gonna try practicing with it and that's all thanks to you! Keep up the great work! I hope you show more painting vlogs like this in the future!

I don’t know if this is at all useful to you, or if you’re already aware of the technique, but I saw a video of Neal Adams doing watercolor, he would pre-wet the face or whatever and before applying a color pass and that would make the transitions of color very soft and even.

@@SiyaOum I was thinking it would work for the Bombay inks too, for areas where you want a smooth transition without brush strokes, the water does the work for you, plus the pigment sort of automatically restricts itself to just the area that you’ve pre-wet. Anyways, thanks again for your videos, I like to put them on in the background while I work.

it cleans up the sketch lines so the watercolor process is cleaner since its hard to erase the pencils lines once painted over.
