KANAZAWA TRAVEL GUIDE 🏮🇯🇵 | 17 Things to Do in Kanazawa, Japan
Kanazawa, often hailed as a hidden gem in Japan's cultural landscape, presents a mesmerizing blend of historical richness and modern vibrancy. Our travel guide to Kanazawa is a carefully curated journey through time, where ancient traditions seamlessly meld with contemporary life. As we embarked on this leg of our journey across Japan, Kanazawa's allure was unmistakably compelling, promising a tapestry of experiences that span from the serene to the exhilarating.
Our adventure begins at the Omicho Market, bustling with local life and flavors, offering a sensory feast that sets the tone for our exploration. Here, the freshest seafood and local produce provide a vibrant backdrop to our culinary discoveries. Just a stone's throw away, the Sentou Mandarin Restaurant awaits, offering a taste of Kanazawa's rich seafood heritage, blending traditional tastes with innovative culinary techniques.
A visit to the Tsuzumimon Gate at Kanazawa Station marks a grand entrance to the city's heart, symbolizing the gateway to its cultural treasures. The evening promises warmth and laughter at Izakaya Sakanayadojo, where local brews and bites foster communal joy.
Our journey delves deeper into Kanazawa's soul at the Myoryuji Ninja Temple, a testament to the ingenuity and mystery of Japan's famed shadow warriors. The Nishi Chaya District and its accompanying museum offer a glimpse into the geisha's elusive world, while the Ninja Weapon Museum allows us to engage with history hands-on, challenging visitors to try their hand at throwing stars.
Amidst these adventures, the tranquility of Kenrokuen Garden stands out as a highlight, its beauty emblematic of Japan's meticulous garden design. The sprawling Kanazawa Castle Park and the spiritual serenity of Oyama Shrine offer further exploration into the city's historical and spiritual depths.
The Naga-machi District, with its preserved samurai homes and tea houses, offers a tangible connection to Japan's warrior past, while the modern delights of Kanazawa curry and the international flavors at Saizeriya Restaurant showcase the city's culinary diversity.
Our guide is not just a list of destinations; it's an invitation to immerse yourself in the essence of Kanazawa. From the ancient samurai houses to the modern Kanazawa Bus Loop, every step is a story, every flavor a memory. Join us as we uncover the multifaceted charm of Kanazawa, where every corner holds a new discovery, waiting to be explored.

Such an awesome travel and food guide to Kanazawa. This one reminded me more of a Mark Weins video than anything else. Very awesome!! We went to Sofia this past Friday for a little shopping trip and had lunch at The Sushi Bar (actual name). Most of the time I forget to film or even take pictures of what we eat, but The Sushi Bar was an amazing meal. Thank you guys for giving this wonderful tour.

Kanazawa's teahouses are so serene, you'll feel guilty for accidentally slurping your matcha lol. Kidding aside, this exactly why Japan is definitely on the top of our list! It felt so nostalgic and I suddenly remembered the time when we filmed one of our TV show episode there.

Kanazawa is a sleeper city, that is not visited much by Westerners. We visited during cherry blossoms and we had wonderful time. We ate in that Saizeriya, last March 2023. It was pretty decent. It is right by the train station. We ate in 2nd Saizeriya by Universal Studios and it was not nearly as good as the Kanazawa location.

Hi Audrey & Sam, thanks for your video. We will land in Nagoya. Option 1 - should we stay in Takayama first before we go to Kanazawa, back to Nagoya, then Tokyo? or Option 2 - should we go to Kanazawa first, then Takayama, back to Nagoya, then Tokyo? Which is the best way? FYI we plan to visit Shirakawa when we are in Takayama (our based for 2-3 nights). Thanks
@samuelandaudrey
@samuelandaudrey 3 ай бұрын
I think either way is fine. I would maybe look at the calendar and try to see if you can avoid Shirakawa-go on a weekend, because it'll be a lot busier than visiting mid-week. Then plan your schedule accordingly.

How are you communicating with the people in Japan? I understand that most do not speak English. Are you using a translation app?
@samuelandaudrey
@samuelandaudrey 3 ай бұрын
It was mainly a lot of pointing and charades. Most restaurant menus had pictures, so even if the menu wasn't in English, we could order. For visiting attractions, the price of admission was usually posted, so we knew what to pay even if we couldn't communicate.

5:30, sorry, dim sum is specifically Cantonese, not Mandarin. Mandarin is a language. The traditional language spoke in The Republic of China (Taiwan). Mandarin in Chinese is “國語, national language”. The CCP changed that what they called “normal language, 普通話”. Now I understand some 10 years ago the Japanese sushi chiefs wanted to set standards for what real sushi is as too many places outside of Japan just cut up uncooked fish and put rice on it and call it “sushi”. Some of us fight like hell to keep things not being mis-led.
