Not sure if you've ever read it, but this whole thing partly reminds me of the VC Andrews book Twilight's Child. One of the characters basically is in love with the main character (who is already married to someone else). He ends up being engaged to another girl but makes her dye her hair the same color as the main character and wear clothing similar to what the main character wears. The guy in Twilight's Child is arguably worse (you can look it up if you don't mind spoilers) but it's still creepy nonetheless.

Had the same happen to me and this Kanye situation reminds me so so much of this too. Her eyes look so dead, I had the same dead expression towards the end of that relationship. I feel so sorry for anyone in that type of relationship.

This all happened to me, as well! My ex loved what I wore, until we got married, then he prevented me from dressing up and I could only go out if I dressed wayyy down, and looked like a guy. Since I broke away from him, I wear whatever I want, however I want. Abusers are a$$holes.

I live in Vegas, and one day he bought me this dress for Valentines Day & forced me to go out to the strip wearing it to a fancy restaurant. I was half naked, and men were ogling me. I was so uncomfortable when we made it back to the car after dinner I told him I appreciated the gift but never wanted to wear it again ever. He threw a literal tantrum, called me ungrateful, got angry. When I didn't dress how he wanted, he'd punish me by giving me less attention, making little comments, and acting like I dragged him on the date. When I dressed & did my makeup/hair how he liked, he loved bombed me. It never lasted, though, he'd bring me up just to tear me down later, the next day or next week. "You're gaining weight, maybe you should go to the gym, maybe you should do some squats, maybe you shouldn't be eating that." I couldn't cut my hair, I couldn't wear sweats. He refused to go out if I didn't do my makeup. It got so bad he controlled even how I did my eyeshadow.

She's business savvy and smart enough to understand the quid pro quo that would be involved in that marriage. Abusive relationships don't happen until your abuser has seeped into your private sphere in some way. She worked for him, but she might have never met him before, she might have thought he was an eccentric artist and thought no ill of him because of the work environment, she could give everyone the benefit of the doubt or even be naive and gullible. It's not always easy to detect the future of a relationship. I have plenty of knowledge regarding abuse and toxic relationships, but I fell for one regardless.

I mean, just to play devils advocate here: Get help for what? Honestly he’s got everything despite and perhaps because of his mental illness, and is surrounded by as many yes men(leeches) as he wants to keep perpetuating/enabling his behavior. After all you get help for yourself, so if he doesn’t truly see a benefit in getting help, he will continue. His children and family are definitely an incentive to get help but that’s just going to be something that he will have to deal with later on when the damage is already done and permanent.
