I remember when I thought I was grown at 22. To everyone over 30, you’re basically the same. Age is relative unless we’re talking about an actual minor. To be fair, you’d have to consider the many factors that actually play a part in someone’s maturity level; including but not limited to: environment, education, values, responsibilities, rearing, etc. I live in Baltimore where most are forced to grow up earlier than they should b/c of how unsafe it is.

Regarding her drinking, I lived the life she’s living - i was either partying or violently hungover at work. I hit rock bottom last year and ended up in rehab at 27 years old (still sober thankfully). I just hope the conversation around her stops young people from glorifying drinking culture. I know most people grow out of that lifestyle, but for addicts like me, it can lead down a very painful and horrific road which I don’t wish on anyone.

I dated a 22 year old when I was 17. I broke up with him when I thought about how weird it was that he wanted to date me? I do think it was an immaturity issue instead of a power thing. But I often think how strange it is that my little 17 yr old self realized the strangeness before any adult in my life pointed it out. There is definitely something going on for someone in the 20s to be into a high schooler.

Sorry but stop babying grown men and saying they’re immature for going after children. They’re not! They’re grown. They know it’s wrong. They do it because they know women their age are more likely to spot their bullshit, so they go after children who’s brains aren’t fully developed and who likely have less experience. It’s intentional because of they are a child. Stop giving them passes. I’m sorry what happened to you, realize that man was a way worse person than you can fathom. I’m glad you left him.

After that, every boyfriend I had from the age of 16 up was out of high school and in their 20s. I had boys my age who were interested in me, but I never dated them. I met my husband when I was 19, and he was 23. We've been married 14 years and together almost 15. I love my husband, and I love my life. But looking back, I realize that was the most age appropriate serious relationship I had been in.... even then the maturity difference between us was an issue for many years.

As someone who’s the same age as her, I was shocked to found out she was my age. I still have people thinking I’m a teenager and I swore she was like 30. I definitely think filler and Botox ages people especially when they are young and don’t need it. A good example is Kylie Jenner, she’s only 26 but looks decades older bc her filler is migrating and aging and it doesn’t look good anymore unless you dissolve it. I don’t think plastic surgery is bad however I think in these times it’s too normalized and glamorized. I used to want to get surgery but it was all due to insecurity and I’ve overcame that without doing anything, and I think more influencers and celebs need to promote self love in your body and not always fixing what you perceive as wrong. The glamorization of spending thousands on getting work done just to be “happy” is so insane especially in this “body positive” era we’re in.

I think this Alix chick is less of a problem herself and more of an example of a bigger, cultural issue. I also partied a lot in my late teens and early 20s. Early college years there was ALWAYS someone throwing up or blacking out. Sometimes it was me! During the pandemic, I’d just graduated and was furloughed from my job so I was drinking a ton then too. It wasn’t until I turned 25 that those habits really started catching up with me. Your body and your tolerance to alcohol changes drastically between 22-25. Idk about y’all but I felt my brain ding after 25 like… she’s done baking. And with that come wisdom. I'm just gonna mention this from firsthand experience; the reason why you shouldn't mix an anti anxiety/depressant medication with alcohol is not just because it might emphasize the side effects it's because the risk of having a SEIZURE goes up. I did not know this when I started on lexapro, my psychiatrist at the time (who prescribed it to me) never mentioned this. I only found this out when googling it myself. So PLEASE be careful when you're on medication. Listen to your doctor AND also do your own research.
@cheetahcreep
@cheetahcreep 7 ай бұрын
I mean, screw your psychiatrist for this, honestly. I am so sorry. But fortunately at least in the USA the bottle itself should come with a warning that mixing alcohol with it is such a bad idea (and of course, it sounds like a suggestion rather than informing you of life threatening effects, aka seizure, etc). I'm literally on so many medications that drinking even a beer is recipe for a very bad time. that said, I also had to Google the fact that even taking tylenol affects serotonin levels in your gut. I had to detox everything this year and it sucked. always be your own advocate. If something doesn't feel right with your medications or your doctor, get another opinion for your own safety ❤

All I can say to the young people is take care of yourself, your body, your mental health. I used to binge drink on the weekends when i was 16 - 18, I would throw parties and get black out around strangers. One time I remember fading in and out of consciousness with a dude carrying me to my bedroom and pulling my pants down. I remember bits and pieces from nights. The body keeps the score though. It's not fun, it's not cute, it's not healthy, you are putting yourself at risk! Especially if you don't have people in your corner looking out for you. If you do have people that care about you and your safety, value them! And care about them in return!

I partied, drank, took antidepressants and other pharmaceuticals for anxiety from about 16-25. I never thought I had a problem with drinking, I could binge drink for a weekend or go to a festival or a rave or travel abroad and still show up for work and school and get my shit done. My life seemed fun and spontaneous blah blah blah and THEN at 27 I had my first real alcohol withdrawal; I didn’t see it coming and I didn’t know that could happen to me and it was fucking terrifying. After that my relationship with alcohol switched so fast I can’t even explain it and I spent the next 2 years in and out of rehabs. It seems fun in your early 20s but when I say it creeps up on you I mean it creeeeeeeps up on you because when you take antidepressants and drink your brain isn’t reacting to the alcohol the same way and it makes you want to drink more to feel it, and that’s how you end up building a dependency or blacking out and putting yourself in danger. I look back on my early 20s now as a sober person and realize that half the shit I did (that I even remember) wasn’t actually fun, I was just drunk or high. Maybe we all gotta go through that phase in our own way, but some people don’t make it out alive and I wish that lifestyle wasn’t celebrated like it is because young people don’t realize just how long life is yet and how that shit can catch up with you

Drank vodka all day, every day until I passed out and thought I was just "under a lot of stress so i deserve to cut loose". It can happen to ANYONE from ANY walk of life and you never think it's gonna be you so don't think because it hadn't happened yet that it won't. Didnt happen to me until i was 31, long after my party days. So always practice mindfulness. ❤ I'm a very grateful 1 year 5 months sober this month 🎉❤

Congrats! I’m 2 years 3 months sober now, and drank every other day minimum for ~3 years. I was an epidemiology professional in infectious disease control, I work in something different now but I got two masters while binge drinking 3x/week. Alcoholism isn’t always going to be obvious. So many professionals, especially in finance and healthcare, are in the throes of addiction and no one will ever know. I’m proud of you for getting help.

Julia, the way you explained how a 17/22 year old dynamic can be problematic was great. These smaller age caps can be hard to explain but I think you put it very well. A lot of maturing goes into those few years between 17 and 22, it's all about mental maturity at the end of the day.

As someone who’s in the party scene and in uni. There needs to be a balance in my opinion. I don’t watch her content but I can relate bc we do live a very similar life. I do work in marketing and pr on top of school. Which means I do have a lot of parties and events to attend. But you need to take a break and say no to alcohol as well as know your limit. Drink until you’re blackout is a no no. And yes I have anxiety too, drinking does fuel that. For me, reading and crocheting with my comfort tv show in the background really soothes me out. Just some tips hopes it helps someone out there reading this can relate ❤

Small comment! I think br3ast augmentation was shrinking in popularity for a moment because of the rise of body positivity and neutrality, as well as the rise in coverage of people’s silicon bags exploding and making people sick. This is just what I have noticed, and i felt like throwing my thoughts into a comment. Can anyone else say they have a similar notion? Or an opposite takeaway? Great video, queen!!

There HAS been a much more information recently (by that I mean 5-10 years) coming out about implant risks, upkeep, and just kind of... Long term reviews and discussions that folks with online platforms have aired publicly. I think that really changed the perspective from boobjobs being a "just a thing you do, one and done" to a more considered surgery that will also require subsequent operations to replace the implants even if everything goes perfectly. So even though botox injections, lip and cheek fillers and so on have become much more popular, breast implants have shifted down in popularity.
@caseygreyson4178
@caseygreyson4178 8 ай бұрын
I agree with you. I think body positivity plus people coming out with stories about BII (breast implant illness) and explants has resulted in less people getting implants. However, I also agree with the first reply about how cosmetic surgery in general has INCREASED. I think lots of people, instead of paying a lot of money for breast implants, are instead using less money to get more attainable surgeries like lip fillers, Botox, eyebrows, etc.

All I got to say on this one is I had the most followers I ever had when I was at my absolute lowest point, right before I put myself into detox. I started losing followers after that. I truly think the worst thing I could’ve ever done for myself was document my “party phase” all over the internet, it definitely made the whole thing worse. Can’t image how it would be with millions of people egging you on.

"oh shes young and pretty and shes having so much fun because she can drink!" so all they take away from those videos is drinking is good and fun.

coming from a girl who “popped off” in college, a lot of girls i knew early in college promoted this lifestyle and consumed similar content to alix’s. honestly, it really warped my view of what actions and behaviors were safe and cool. I found myself in a lot of bad and dangerous situations because of binge drinking culture and the whole “black out or backout” let’s go out every night and skip class culture of early college. this coupled w my lack of high school party experience made things worse i think. I wish I had known that I didn’t have to end up in those places to have fun or make friends. Not saying Alix can’t talk about this type of stuff but I agree with those who caution against promoting it to a young and impressionable audience. Great video as always! :)

I’m still having trouble making friends in college because I don’t drink/smoke. I’ve tried joining clubs for my interests, but even those people like to go out and party on the weekends or hangout for a smoke sesh, so there’s not really anyone who I can hang out with outside of the clubs. I wish party culture and underage drug and alcohol consumption wasn’t so normalized :/

Going to college after living under strict parents and having unaddressed mental and physical ailments caused me to become a severe alcoholic at 19. The only reason I didn't end up literally homeless is because of my family paying my rent. I stopped binge drinking at 22 but never stopped drinking completely until it killed my uncle before he turned 50. Now, I've been sober for one year and have never felt better. I honestly think that alcohol is one of the worst things to happen to our society, especially when combined with the mindset of ignoring your problems and never seeking therapy until you have a mental breakdown. It's a very, very dangerous combination, and drinking for fun quickly turns into drinking to numb pain or go to sleep, which can then easily turn into drinking every waking moment once the inevitable traumas of life kick in. Everyone needs to destress, but we really should try to choose substances that aren't known to cause cancer or organ failure! 😭

I’ve been 21 for quite a few months and I’m a senior in college…I’ve never been drunk. I’ve tried drinking but drinking the amount that it takes to get drunk is actually A lot of alcohol, much less blacking out ?? I don’t understand how people do it, much less do it regularly. Furthermore, college is not the place for partying all the time. It’s the place to go to the library and study. Yeah maybe drink and smoke in your free time but throwing your grades away to party is a PRIVILEGE that most people can’t afford

I lost three years of my memory and being present in my own life bc of drinking on psych meds. Ages 21-23. My most successful years, my crowning achievements, the beginning of my independent life, are all a blur. I ignored the neon orange labels on my med bottles and thought I was invincible. I’m over two years sober now. By luck alone, I didn’t get hit by a car, killed by a violent boyfriend/date, taken home by a stranger, and didn’t ruin my career/scholarships. I blacked out 3-4 nights a week (out or in my living room) bc alcohol of all kinds (wine or hard liquor or beer etc) got me drunk quickly like it was backwoods moonshine (bc of the meds!). Every time i would black out or make very bad decisions that my brain still doesn’t let me access memories of (i.e., piercing my own nose or the ~18k in income that I spent on drunk Amazon purchases🙃). I don’t remember my early 20s, and I don’t really want to, bc I was an impulsive drunk girl that tried to throw everything I ever worked for away. I hate that when I attempt to show my wonderful partner snapshots from my life back then, I have to open my Snapchat timeline where I always had a drink in my hand. Drinking should be in moderation at best, and never when on medications that tell you to avoid drinking while on that med on the drug facts/FDA label. It’s not worth the blackout drunk moments that you won’t remember until your friends tell you, or getting your stomach pumped after a rough night, or the humiliating moments of losing your keys/phone/wallet at a bar. You can have fun sober, or talk to your doctor about options to party safely.

Sadly it involves things that are dangerous & unsafe. I can’t even imagine getting a BBL & then getting it removed. It’s so sad women are willing to put their bodies thru this. *Edit I’m well aware Alix hasn’t had a BBL or a removal. That statement was in regards to fads that come & go. It seemed fitting…considering the topic. Don’t come for me. 🚨

A 6 year age gap with a minor is DISGUSTING. As a woman I would hope you would hold other women to the same standards as a man. Roles reverse and a man would go to prison. As he should. And she should too. I'm almost certain that is illigal in most states. She knew his age not only to mention you can tell when someone is under 18. If you don't ask someone how old they are before you do anything with them that is entirely your responsibility and as such you should deal with the consequences. 12-17 I dated too many men who were too old to even be having a conversation with me not even to mention the manipulative games these people like to play. It's not acceptable don't play with double standards.

If you got it, it's not your obligation to disclose what you did I don't understand if you lie and trick your followers into thinking you "grew into your face" or some other dumb excuse that equates aging/puberty to these procedures. I totally drank way too much at her age too, but when I got my Klonopin/clonazepam prescription for my mental conditions I cut down to nothing for a while because I was so nervous of the medication and alcohol interacting in my body in a BAD way. I drink like two drinks once in a while now, like at a big family dinner, as my doctors have all said that’s an alright thing to do that won’t hurt me. But like…. Where is the fear for her? It’s very dangerous to mix so many meds and alcohol, and Lexapro is one you shouldn’t drink with. To me that’s scary. Also, I don’t think I have to explain why kissing and/or dating a minor is wrong.
