@@norcan9879 I definitely think he went easy at first. His reaction to Robbie telling him that was like, "ugh, fine..." Then he didn't seem to have that fire in his fight which allowed Kenny to get that first point. @@talynstarburst2l2l2l It's not the result it's the means they used to get it. Hawk should be toying around with Kenny and yet he was getting his ass beat the whole fight. A better way to do it would have been for Kenny to be down 2-0, cornered, and then use the silver bullet as a comeback.

@@TheMacC117 yes, I was actually thinking about that too and wished they went that route.. Hawk should have been winning and then Kenny takes him out with that move. This was one ep I really struggled with. I'd like your opinion. Being such a prestige tournament as Sekai Taikai, would you choose a dojo where the student (Payne) used a move that hurts the opponent, also had to be warned for his second strike (on which he should've been (?) disqualified)? This fight was a presentation of how a dojo works, already being warned in a presentation, where you have to show the best of you (and your dojo) is nothing really great. Also, the girl on the team lost, that makes one loser and one clearly unfair fighter (or at least a violent one) for CK. I get it, it's for the future storyline, but still... if it was some random tournament, ok, but they clearly demanded much of research and observation. I felt like this decision wasn't good, only scripted, so they had to go with it...
@ireonna9597
@ireonna9597 Жыл бұрын
well, taikai is presumed to be one of the best karate tournaments in the world so it would make sense that they're looking for fighters who would do whatever it takes to win...seeing violence as strength but also appreciating the light-heartedness of daniel and Johnnys dojo.
@zeroknight4517
@zeroknight4517 Жыл бұрын
@Yo Momma I understand that, but still, it's such a prestige tournament. Sensei also read out what was on the magazine last time, it was all about putting heart into fighting etc. I somehow also can't imagine, Daniel wanting his students to participate in a more brutal tournament...
@zeroknight4517
@zeroknight4517 Жыл бұрын
@@ireonna9597 (also posted this in my previous answer): I don't think Daniel would allow his students to participate in a violent tournament (especially when Sam is involved). Also, if it's one of the best tournaments, it should respect the meaning of karate, which is protecting, not harming. Ofcourse we might see in the next season that it's really brutal, (and Daniel to be shocked) but it just wasn't explained here very much.

I'll add a reply here...the whole meaning of daniel not being able to let his students fight was because he didn't want to get him hurt...that little montage at the end of ep 6 of daniels students was their way of saying "we can fight" which is a hint they gave in episode 1 when sam said "I can fight" so that was just daniel accepting that "cobra kai isn't a fight they can walk away from". and let's be real not all karate tournaments going to respect the meaning of karate....that's just how it is in the real world. (nothing I said is me making it up, just my take from s5.

It was always stated to me growing up that in competition, you bow first to the Referee to signify that you respect them as a judge, and will honor any and all calls/decisions they make. The way that Devon’s kicking the paddles was more taekwondo based. As a taekwondo practitioner’s pov your right for rotating the hips for power but using flexibility like she was, was more tkd based. I think they modified a lot for the training and fighting purposes because Terry’s actor was trained in taekwondo

Not a Tang Soo Do twist. They were performing the Poomsae Koryo from Kukkiwon style Taekwondo, or at least a portion thereof.

I dont thin'k you realize the point of the fight scene was that Terry bribed the ref to rig the decisions in Cobra Kai's favor, all the things they were calling out were part of it
