I totally agree with your observations . On number three the hyper stretched back leg is caused by shorten hip flexors what makes an anterior pelvic tilt.

Hi sensei, greetings from Portugal. Great videos. About kiba dachi, the difficulty is keeping the position low on the transition, and maintaining the position of the feet. Oss

Another points that I often see the front knee is bent too much making the stance too low and harder too move. Being able to have strong dynamics comes from having a correct stance. So important.
@geoffreyfletcher69763 жыл бұрын
I realize that this video pertains to the front stance as it is specifically used in Karate, and these are very excellent points, but there are some postures in arts like Ninjutsu/Budo Taijutsu that in their version of a front stance (Ihēn no Kamae), has the back toe being angled out to the side 90° or pointing outward 45°. However, if moving forward from this posture or striking with the rear hand, then the back toe"s angle changes with the movement to prevent damage to the knee joints.

Great video thanks. Groin is not pronounced Grow In Japanese use the oi to get someone’s attention. Same pronunciation in the word groin. Gra-oi-n. Hope that helps.

@KarateDojowaKu すみません I studied shotokan in the 90s and now I came back and I keep getting corrected on my zenkutsu dachi. I was taught that the back knee should not be bent. However now they teach me that it should be slightly bent so that i can move from that leg. They explain it as difference between karate as a sport and dento karate-do which we practice. Would you be so kind and explain why is that and what is the correct way? I don't want to oppose my teacher. Thank you very much. ありがとう ございます

I don’t think money is essential to become good at karate. If you’re serious enough, you should be able to gain all the information needed from my channel alone. Don’t just watch them, practice them like crazy.

Small point of correct pronunciation in English, “groin” is not pronounced “gro-in”. It should be pronounced “gro-een”. It is said with no gap between the syllables, “groeen”. The “i” is pronounced like “e” in this word.

I am curious: at 0.12 into the video, your name comes up and underneath lists your credentials as Shotokan Black belt and coach at Oldest Karate Organisation in the world . What is this organisation ? And what is your dan grade ranking? There is very little information on your history, training , ethos or background in the 'About' section of your channel. Such information is helpful. Thank you
