I absolutely adore this song. My mom had the recording on a cd and we would play it in the car when I was really little. I hadn't thought about it in a little while but sometime ago I suddenly remembered it. Listening to it now after everything that's happened feels like how how a warm chocolate chip cookie tastes. 😃

Kyle: That is where most of each generation of singers really come from. They live in buses and travel the concert circuits with mom, dad, aunts, uncles and grandparents. Most are home schooled and it shows in their character and ethics. They harmonize for entertainment while traveling, and most meet their future mates on the circuit. They are a special gifted and blessed type of person that are called to such a wonderful Ministry. They are human not perfect, but I know they are sincere in their love of the LORD! Just to clarify. The flash flood in the Jordan River was January 7, 1973. On the Banks of the Promised Land was written the following day on January 8, 1973 as we left Jericho and headed to Bethlehem. Someone edited my comment below and changed the year. Again, I would like the copyright for On the Banks of the Promised Land. It was written during my honeymoon.

I would like to have the copyright for On the Banks Of the Promised Land. I wrote the song during my honeymoon in the Holy Land. It was written January 6, 1973 as our party left Jericho headed for Bethlehem. The previous day, I had been swept downstream in the Jordan River by an unexpected flash flood and my groom (Ivan C. Parker) jumped in to save me. Following that, we returned to the city of Jericho and Ivan C. Parker and I co-wrote On Jordan's Stormy Banks.

I would like the copyright for On The Banks Of The Promised Land. I am the original author. On The Banks Of The Promised Land was written on January 8, 1970 as I was on my honeymoon in the Holy Land. Our party left Jericho and journeyed toward Bethlehem. The previous day, while wading in the Jordan River, I had been swept downstream by an unexpected flash flood. Ivan C. Parker, my groom jumped in to save me. On The Banks Of The Promised Land was originally written in Flemish. The reason Karen Peck wanted to record the song was that she helped me translate it into English when Ivan and I returned from our honeymoon. Karen is a much younger sister of Ivan's mother Mari.
