Story 2: I have the same problem. My best friend is a lesbian, but I am straight. She started tearing into me and stressing me out a lot (she was also acting like a psycho). I had to end the friendship I was getting so stressed. I got a letter from her asking if we could be friends again and I accepted. I am happy to say that we have boundaries and her crush on my is almost gone. Also, that “break” really improved our friendship.

Story 2: The guy is not a creep. He has been very respectful to her and always backs down when she rejects him. However, the narrator is right in the fact that the friendship is over and she needs to completely cut him out of her life.

I agree. I dunno if the Narrator is jaded from the number of stories he's seen, and I agree with his recommended course of action to the OP. But I disagree with his assessment of the OP's friend. It sounds like a case of the narrator assuming the worst.

The way the guy said he wanted to keep treating her special and spoiling her definitely puts him over the line of being a creep. He isn't respecting her boundaries, as the narrator said, and that is definitely not being respectful.

@@Ironica82 Of course you can. If that was the reason the guy did it then it would all be fine. However, is obvious that he gives her the special treatment because he still has feelings for something more. Not to mention with the way she words her post she rather him not do that. Its not a question of if you should or shouldn't treat your friend special. If your friend wants you to stop something, you stop it.

I had a similar situation to story two. I never saw him more as a close friend and confidant for years; I did try to see him as more, but I couldn't. He asked more than once, even went so far as kissing my head when we hugged goodbye as we always did. Then I eventually started distancing myself from him (we used to walk to class together). It was wrong, I know, but I started to feel like something was changing, and it scared me. After a week or so, he and a mutual friend got together afterwards. They were the cutest couple I've ever seen to this day, I was so proud to be their friend. They broke up however, but it was clean and they found someone again. I lost contact with them both after some time, but I heard he recently he had a little girl on his shoulders at a parade! I haven't reached out, life and work, but I hope he's doing okay now. I just needed to get this off my chest, thank you anyone who read this.

Story 1 : OP should have taken a picture of the Karen, asked her full name and address, and then tell her that he will be reporting her to Child services for attempted child abandonment. Leaving your child with a stranger is technically child abandonment.

The guy in story two sounds like me when I was in university. It would have been better to end the friendship the first time he confessed to her. Like she said, she wants a friend and not a boyfriend. Even though he knows that, just being around her made him happy. That will lead to so much heart ache. If I could go back in time I would stop myself from being this way. It’s not worth it at all

First story is a simple solution. You say yes, and after 5 min you call the police or CPS (as a concerned citizen) and tell them that there's an abandoned child for like the last 5 min. Then tell them you have to leave soon and if they don't respond quickly, the child will be left on it's own. Problem solved. And if the mom comes back, play dumb

Last story: that man is planning to get divorce and he want as much money as he can from op. Mother and kids usually get the house in divorce (sometimes they will sell it and split the money), but if that house is also her childhood home, well there is no longer even question about it. She will get it. So he is planning his own future without her. My advice would be that don't buy any houses with him or don't take any debt with him, all that debt will stay with her when they are getting that divorce. And most of all don't take that house for free from her parent, he might after all get half of it, he might steal half of her childhood home for free. They can move in but that house should stay in her parents name. She should protect her children and herself of course from unknown future and talk with her parents about this issue. They might have some wisdom and ideas to share.

Nope. The debt goes to the man almost all the time. She will get the house regardless. Even if it was his childhood home. She will get automatic custody as well. Men don't win in divorce court. At all. He's fuqed even if he is the one to start it. He'll even lose his car if she doesn't have one.

I have had two guys like me like that 2nd story. The 2nd one eventually found someone, got married and probably has a kid by now. He was a good friend. When I reached out, his wife didnt want our friendship to resume and we both respected that. The 1st guy, I havent spoken with in over 20 years, still get letters and emails. (I never gave him my email, and didnt even make that email until years after I cut contact). The line her crossed? He made an online account with his first and last initial and my school ID number. One thing I’ve noticed is people will often ask how to make someone in their lives change, but the reality is you can’t. I learned that when I went to therapy. People often try to control people and aspects of their lives, but there are different things out of our control. The only thing you can control is yourself and your response to it.

I get what you're saying but think about it this way, OP's husband hasn't come up with any other solution other than paying out of pocket and putting them in debt for potentially DECADES. he says he doesn't care about money (which of course he doesn't cause he's not the breadwinner of the family, not saying there's anything wrong with that but that could be contributing to this behavior since OP more than likely is the one who takes care of the bills with her income since she makes twice as much as he does), but that just now. he could very well not want to work as hard in 10 years time or end up wanting to switch professions and possibly making less money but he'll be forced to stay where he's at because they need to money to pay off the house they bought out of pocket. This could also be a HUGE stain on their relationship cause if they go thru with buying a house out of pocket, every time they run into money issues cause of the payments OP's gonna remember that this issue was perfectly avoidable if they had just done the smart thing instead of just doing what OP's husband wanted to do out of pride. Also to be frank, saying you don't care about money when you have a family to take care of is honestly delusional in my opinion. Like the narrator said if having his own home that they bought is that big of a deal then he could grit his teeth for a couple of years and renovate the house and sell it for another place that they could call their own (because the parents never said they couldn't do just that so it's an option). He's potentially putting his family in soul crushing debt because he can't shallow his pride and just accept a free damn house and honestly that's pretty damn selfish.
@ChickinSammich

@@KC-nx8ol I definitely agree; it's a question of whether they should make a financially responsible decision they'll be uncomfortable with and may cause stress or a decision they'll be comfortable with which would be financially less responsible and may cause stress. It's lose-lose. I do think accepting the house, selling it, and then moving is the most "logical" decision but whether it's the right one or not is hard to say.
@KC-nx8ol
@KC-nx8ol Жыл бұрын
@@ChickinSammich generally, when investing financially in your future (especially when it involves your family future) you need to put your feelings aside and think about what's best (most logical) for your family, not all feelings mind you. But feelings like pride have no business in decision making when it involves your SO and children, because those decisions should be what's best for everyone, not what's just best for you. That being said, this isn't some lose-lose situation, this is a no brainer decision. Why put you and your family in potential financial ruin for years over a very old and out dated way of thinking. OP's husband doesn't have a legitimate reason for not taking the house, if he did like the parents used to beat on his wife when she was a child or there was some traumatic event that happened there that he knows would trigger either his wife or kid THEN I would understand saying no. But he's literally thinking only about himself when he's clashing with OP over this decision. He's feeling and not thinking at all, not even willing to make a compromise on this decision that isn't just about him and what he feels. My advice to OP is just take the house and he'll get over it and if he doesn't then he needs to find another place to live.

With Story #2, I’ve gone through a similar situation. I had a guy friend in high school, and I can’t remember how long we’ve been friends, but I assume it was for about a month and a half. It eventually led up to the point where he wanted to ask me out as his girlfriend, which every time he brought it up, I had to politely decline. This would really affect him, because I wasn’t in a position to be in a relationship. So with me and (lol his name was Eric) as friends still, that left an open window for him to shoot his shot again. Some texts here and there about him being “in love” with me, made me uncomfortable. He was clearly disregarding my boundaries

Story 2: I have just recently started high school (I’m homeschooled) I had an opposite gender best friend when I was in middle school. Even though I had known him for years We only became best friends after an acting production of a Christmas Carol during sixth grade. During seventh grade he would come over every Sunday to play video games because his parents had to take care of his severely autistic brother. Also we couldn’t talk as much as we did a year before then because I had recently started doing musical theater with my other friends. In eighth grade when we were doing elf the musical he joined the class which I was very happy about but I didn’t expect what was coming. He became a complete jerk. He got a new best friend and he would hang out with him more then me, he didn’t congratulate anyone for the roles and only cared that he got a big part in 42nd street. He confessed to his love to my friend Willow and he also had a crush on my friend Zola and tried getting close to her. (And yes he did actually get a girlfriend at his school but it was kind of a problem because she was a grade lower than him) The last thing we did together was seeing Ghostbusters afterlife. A month later after one of my dance classes I had noticed that my dad had blocked hhis contact off my iPad and he had a talk with me and told me that my friend Zola had reported his behavior to to the teacher because she very tired of him treating me like crap (she was usually the one to comfort me when he was mean to me in the middle of rehearsal) I decided to give him a second chance because we were performing elf the musical in a week but it was a bad idea. A couple weeks later I saw sing 2 with my friend Naomi and he complained to me that I didn’t invite him. Then when 2022 came he did something that turned out to be HORRIBLE!! He made edited photos of my friends and they all thought it was funny at first until one person got offended and everyone’s parents saw them. He got suspended and ended up losing his role and 42nd St. and I blocked him from my life. My best friends are now Naomi and Zola and honestly they are much better people to be around

i have looking videos from this channel for a while now, and one i noticed is that whenever the OP is girl and it is about a relationship the narrator instantly starts bashing the guy like in the second story the guy didn't do anything creepy. But when it is a guy as the op he says totally something else a complete 360

Last Story - THANK YOU! someone who fucking gets it! it's a free fucking house! and if it's really that big of a deal then renovate it and then sell it down the line. but right now in this day and age getting a free BIGGER house is like winning the god damn lottery! If I was OP i'd tell my SO that we're taking the house and that's final. if OP's husband has that big of a problem with it then he can go rent and apartment or go buy a house of his own and pay for it by himself. See if that "money doesn't matter" attitude is still intact after a couple of mortgage payments.

First off for the one story about the best friend in love with the op, I find that quite sweet in a sense that you never really have the opportunity to have a best friend who falls in love with you is very sweet very successful and mature about his or her feelings. And I understand that Opie does not want to jeopardize their friendship or want to take advantage of him and that is very smart and good of her. But I hope that she does not one day go through the whole string of bad guys breaking a heart and then in her 30s or 40s or even 50s she looks back and says that I have finally realized my feelings, but then the best friend has either number one moved on, number two passed away unfortunately or number 3 has changed his mind. O p I know you don't want to ruin the friendship and I also read that you went on date with him and there was no spark but I hope you make the right choice you don't have to force yourself but just do realize that yeah he's your best friend and daughter to ruin anything and you're entitled to say that you don't want to date him you don't feel anything but also realize that if he's a 100% of a catch and he treats you like a princess and all that sometimes you just have to take a plunge and know where you're going but I understand so have a nice life but just remember the good things you have before they are gone because you can never get them back once they're gone.

Eventually he will see that having her as a friend is bad for his mental health and contact will stop altogether. I went through the same, madly in love with a girl that did not want to risk the friendship. Which, in the end, made me see that my friendship with her was not good for me.

@@kayschut9327 They don't actually "want to risk the friendship". That's a plausible deniability tactic to keep from looking like the bad guy. Women do anything they can to protect their public image. They can't stand it when someone thinks bad of them.

@@smithsmith1956 Agreed, the moment you realise it is when you can actually move on with your life. Of course I can't help but hold these feelings for them still, but even if they were to contact me with 'I made a mistake, I want to get together' my answer would be no 100%

You cannot 'save the friendship.' The 'I just want to be friends' routine is ridiculous. The guy is neither creepy, nor disrespectful. She is the problem. It has been rinse and repeat since high school. She's the one who is being selfish. She keeps trying to hold onto him as a friend, even though she knows that he is crazy about her, and that isn't good for him. He won't be able to move on, until there is a clean, permanent break. I have seen this exact thing play out too close to home.

Story 1: Wow what a horribly irresponsible parent. Story 2: It's great that the friend is trying to improve himself, but I hope he'll manage to get over his crush sooner rather than later. Also, guy who reads the stories wtf man he's not being creepy at all. You're being weird. Story 3: The ex-boyfriend is a piece of shit. He was definitely (emotionally) cheating. Story 4: That's definitely a double-standard. It doesn't matter if it's about a long-time friend, the girlfriend slept with him, just like OP slept with the other girl, that's what's important here. If you're gonna allow one situation, you should also allow the other. Story 5: The brother is being toxic and he's indeed probably insecure. I hope your relationship gets better. Story 6: I understand some of the husband's emotions but oh my god just get over it. There is so much benefit here for you and your family. If you turn this down because of your own pettiness, you do not deserve to call yourself a man.

Meaning she loves the attention and keeps inviting him back. He loves her and can't stop loving her, and she loves being loved without having to return the favour. "Oh we are just friends, he wants to spoil me and I don't know what to doooo." He knows the only escape is to stop contacting her, but it's hard to do that when ur in love and when she believes the friendship is safe the moment he has 1 date with another girl.

Guy professing his love is a bit of a creep, but I'm getting the sense that she secretly loves him too but enjoys the attention. Idk, but when you say you really miss someone and describe them as a catch, you're saying they're worth putting time into. It's actually really insulting to say someone is essentially perfect, but you aren't willing to be with them. It's easier to get past it when you think your crush just doesn't like you.

How is it bad to not like someone the way they like you? Sure the guy may be a good caring, sweet guy and an absolute catch but that doesn't mean anything, she said she's tried to see him that but just can't because he's like family so she doesn't like him that way and he is disrespecting her boundaries and should stop and go after a girl who wants him

@@Xx_spaghettiqueen__Xx it's alright if you don't understand it, it just means you've been fortunate enough not to be in that situation. Imagine you love cake. Like really love a specific cake. The taste, the texture, the smell. It's all so super perfect in every way. Now imagine that cake is constantly saying how perfect YOU are as a contender to eat it, misses being around you all the time, but refuses to open up to the idea that maybe your just the icing it needs to be the best it can be.
